Meat & 2 Place. This small meat and two place has been around for a while in downtown Winston, and continues to serve good country cooking meals. It doesn’t seem as busy now as it did before most of the Wachovia job losses took place.It is a cafeteria setup where you proceed down the line, pick out what you want, and pay at the end. They feature different items daily, with some items available every day. The fried chicken on Tuesdays & Thursdays, and the Fried Flounder on Wednesdays & Fridays are especially good. The fried squash, pintos, lima beans, and deviled eggs are also excellent. A plate lunch of a meat, 2 vegetables, and bread is $5.50, tax included – drink is separate.One note: their version of country style steak is really more like beef tips and gravy, very good but a surprise at first..They serve a really good breakfast, and a variety of sandwiches, but alas, no hot dog. The offer chopped BBQ every day, but I would select from the country cooking items.
