Physical abusive owner, please read. Well I was skeptical to come here because of all the bad reviews but a coworker liked the place so I decided to try it. The hostess was rude and was yelling at the other hostesses. The owner was scolding people in front of customers and I saw him yank one of the hostesses arms. His behavior should not be supported and there is no one to stop him. I want to bring awareness for these poorly treated employees. The fact that he claims to be a man of god at my church is embarrassing.
….wasn’t good tonight. We have eaten at the RBL several times and the food was good… although we always thought it was a little overpriced. Tonight was not a good meal for me…..I ordered the special…the waitress said it was Amberjack fish served over a jambalaya with Andouille sausage, shrimp, peas, etc. The Amberjack filet was good…..it was served over some rice with maybe an inch round of Andouille sausage cut into a dice of maybe 8 tiny pieces…I never saw any shrimp at all….it did have some peas. It was not that the flavor was awful….but there was very little flavor and really no way it could be called a jambalaya or paella (which we saw is what they had called it on the specials board as we left, but we did not read it when we came in)…..I have cooked and ordered both jambalaya and paella….this was neither. I expect to see whole shrimp and complete rounds of Andouille sausage in both. Our waitress was very nice…..a man came over to our table and apologized. We were gracious and told him the waitress was very good, but we felt the dish was misrepresented and that the flavor was just OK. He did not offer anything….which is fine….lesson learned, we probably will not be back…..at least for a while and only if we see good ratings. Sad because since we first went there in 2012, the food was good….just overpriced. I wonder did they run out of ingredients to make it properly since it was a special….if so, they should have just said that it was no longer available.
If you like overpriced bland food in a great environment then this is the place for you otherwise skip this place.
Overrated. I don’t get the appeal to this place. Is it just that it’s the only semi-decent restaurant in the Robinhood/Polo Rd area?I’ve been several times; and each time I go I’m underwhelmed. Pasta salads and sandwiches are insipid, burgers dry, and overpriced for quality.I’d love to see this place become a Hickory Tavern. Then I’d go more often.
Below basic food expectations to me. Terrible meal in my opinion. I found the food to be basic yet poorly prepared. The staff seemed to work hard.
Eat anything on the menu. Amazing food.
Great food and atmosphere…. I love the atmosphere and open dining room at River Birch Lodge. The service and food has always been excellent! I recommend the sage chicken or Mama’s lasagne and the salads are also an excellent choice.
