Very good food….very good service. Ryan’s would be a definite return visit restaurant. Loved the wooded setting….so enjoyable. My entre of Crispy Duck was very good…but not real crispy. Still enjoyed my presentation. Loved the Health Nut Salad and the Bananas Foster Ice Cream Sundae was outstanding. whstonemandining.blogspot.com
Wonderful restaurant. Dined there this evening, celebrating wedding anniversary. Food was excellent. Sara was a wonderful server. Highly recommend Ryan’s.
Excellent food and service! Justin is an outstanding waiter.
Owner was incredibly rude. I recently purchased a living social coupon that was for a 3 course dinner for two with two glasses of wine. My boyfriend and I were very excited to try this restaurant based on the glowing recommendations my mother gave about Ryan’s. We will both say that the food was average but not great , but when we went to order our 2 desserts we were told the coupon was for a dessert to share. since this was not the information stated on the living social print out we questioned the waitress, who in turn seemed very agitated that we questioned her, so she returned with the original print out of the living social deal from the living social website, prior to purchase, that states it has dessert to share, and may I add she HIGHLIGHTED the information. So I once again showed her our voucher that clearly stated otherwise. The owner then came out and said I needed to pay more attention to the details prior to purchase and did not care if the coupon stated the same information and turned around and walked off before I was even finished explaining! So for the other 500+ who bought the living social coupon expect to not be honored for 2 desserts, clearly from the staff to the owner, Ryan’s does not believe that the customer is always right nor do they care if you return to their establishment! PS since they can be given as a gift forewarn your gift recipient that it does not matter what is stated on the actual print out of the coupon , according to Ryan’s that is not their problem, it is not a 3 course dinner for two but 2 courses for two and a dessert to share!
Good Food But Not Impressed. Was not impressed by their specialty or house steaks for $30. Next time I will try the prime for $45. Hoping to be impressed next time.
Excellent Old School Steakhouse. Ryan’s is a locally owned, old school steak house that somehow seems to fly under the radar when fine dining in the triad is being discussed – and it definitely is not connected to the chain steak restaurant group. It’s located off Coliseum Drive, secluded in a woodsy setting – it can not be seen from the street area, at all. The interior is made up of 3 or 4 dining areas at different levels, containing a large number of window seats with a nice view of the heavily wooded ravine along the back side of the restaurant. There is very soft lighting, white table cloths, and chandeliers are numerous. The bar area is small, located in the front center, brightly lit, and not particularly warm and fuzzy. The Smoked Salmon appetizer ($11.75) was huge with some of the very best flavors I’ve encountered in this dish, and I order it often. The Duck Trap River salmon was perfect, the cream cheese contained a nice, tasty mixture of herbs, the taste of the capers was sharp and clean, and even the toast points were excellent – toasted to the point of providing a nice platform without being dry or crumbly. The She Crab Soup ($7.95) was also delicious – rich and laced with nice chunks of tender crab. The Prime Rib (the smaller Ryan’s Cut for $27,50) was perfectly cooked at medium rare, and the taste was super. It comes with a salad and choice of potato. My wife chose the Roasted Potatoes, and frankly, we were not impressed – no real flavor there. Salad with blue cheese were very good, as well.I ordered Seared Scallops with Mained Lobster, and this simply was not a good dish – food just messed about. The scallops and lobster were overcooked and tough. The dish was described as being served with a lobster port wine demiglace – instead it was more like all the items composing the dish were in a form of stew, way too much liquid. The roasted potatoes were soggy, and the puff pastry on top was a disaster. I would definitely not order this dish again.Other notes: Monday is 1/2 price wine by the bottle, and some nice values here. The bread is not a strong point, pretty ordinary, actually. They do serve a very nice cheese spread with the bread, but I’d ask for crackers or toast points. We arrived early, and were quickly seated. Three or four couples/foursomes came in, and were all were crowded, along with us, in one corner of the largest dining area, with the rest of the area left empty. – this remains one of my pet peeve, why don’t restaurants spread out the diners? All in all, this is a very nice restaurant, one we have been coming to since 1987. Abunp here and there, but much more good than bad. Generally good service, can be a little slow out of the kitchen. Prices are reasonable for the quality received. We’ll be back.
THE restaurant Was very fancy and wonderful I give it 4 stars
