Don’t waste your money here. Dinner was over $100 and here is what I got:- A mediocre meal. It was fried chicken swimming in some cheesy sauce. Date got VERY overcooked duck that was so salty we would’ve de-iced all of winston salem.- A waitress clad in jeans that poured merlot into a glass that was half full with Cabernet. When we alerted her to the error (which is egregious given that spring house is billed as a fine dining experience) the glasses were removed and no apology or new glass of wine given. – An unset table next to us the entire time despite repeated requests that the table be set. See photo. – Overall this was a salty, dry meal with terrible service and overpriced. Go to Mozelles or literally anywhere else instead.

Excellent and friendly service but food was hit-and-miss. We began with beef short rib spring rolls which were quite good but small for the price. Soup and the house salad were both excellent; salad had wonderful pickled red onions and the serving size was more than adequate. We both ordered dinner specials; my shrimp and grits were yummy but the lobster tail wrapped in thinly pounded pork loin was so over-cooked as to be nearly inedible. My dining partner and I shared an order of the bread pudding which he usually isn’t very fond of but this was the BEST bread pudding ever. We will return and try menu dinner entrees and hope for a more even result. Cocktails were fairly expensive for W-S but the wine list was pretty reasonable. Venue is lovely.
Jury is still out. I went here over Christmas holiday and was very impressed with the entire experience. Excellent waiter, excellent food, beautiful setting. Everything was a home run and I had no problem with the price tag, since I thought we got good value. A month later, I hosted a large (15) group and had a decidedly different experience. Slow service, dinners delivered inconsistently and with a long time between forcing those that got served sooner to either start eating awkwardly while colleagues waited, or eat cold food after waiting for all to be served. I don’t blame the wait staff, because it seemed to me that the problem was in the kitchen. Several in my group are from NY and they visit infrequently, and I want to showcase Winston-Salem to show them why I like it so much, but experiences like this negate all the good things I say.I will likely try Spring House again, but one more experience like my last one and I will take my business elsewhere.
Three times you’re out. I’ve dined at Spring Street three times now, twice for dinner and once for lunch. Without question the least desirable food for the price range in the Triad. My husband and I had steak and fish on our last visit and both were poorly cooked and not tasteful. Based on a $140.00 bill we expected more. My last meal was lunch in December so the restaurant was busy. We dined at the bar which was fine but, I had the worse hamburger ever. How hard is it to grill a hamburger? I requested it be cooked medium, it was well done. Even the bun was not eatable. I did relate my disappointment regarding my meal and the bartender made no comment. I even called the restaurant spoke with a manager who told me the owner and or chef she felt sure would want to speak with me…..guess not, no one called. For shame, the atmosphere is to die for beautiful but the food in my opinion leaves much to be desired.
Great Spot, Recommend.. Great building in DT W-S with a cool little bar area and a few different rooms to eat in that fit different styles. The building has a nice urban clean feel to it. The service is attentive. The food is average to above average.Biggest complaints are the bar should be bigger and the wine list at the bar does not have location and year.Overall I highly recommend for W-S.
