This evening I went on a quest for some really good egg drop soup. I decided that I would visit each Chinese restaurant until I had tried all of the ones that were best rated. Today was Lucky Cafe in the Food Lion Shopping center on South New Hope Road and Beatty Road. The egg drop soup was better than most and tasted like it was made with actual chicken broth, not that slimy yellow mix stuff. While the flavor was quite mild, not a robust chicken broth, it was tasty. BUT, my big surprise was when I got home as I also ordered a take out plate of steamed chicken and broccoli in a white sauce with fried rice (I personally do not care for the brown sauce). WOW, prepared to perfection. The broccoli was perfect, crisp but tender, the chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and tender. SURPRISE, there was a pint of what I presume is their version of a white sauce. It appeared and tasted like a chicken consomme. I added this to my dinner along with some soy sauce and it was delicious. I would highly recommend Lucky Cafe! Fresh and really good food. (Soup is okay.)
