3 words: cheddar. bay. biscuits. Since there are absolutely no red lobster restos anywhere in vancouver or the lower mainland, its always a treat to get a chance to stop by red lobster. the cheddar bay biscuits always keep me comin back for more….they are simply addictive. so on a business trip to charlotte, north carolina, we decided to drop by their gastonia location for dinner. deelish pan seared tilapia. perfectly grilled live lobster & garlic butter shrimps on skewers. however, i would avoid ordering the crab cakes…i only munched on half of a crab cake and stopped….it really wasn’t that great….and the sauce it came with was awful….tasted like salad dressing. before we left, our upbeat server was sweet and even gave us extra cheddar bay biscuits to go.
I used to love Red Lobster, but the last several times I’ve come to this location have been awful. The food is either overcooked, cold, mushy, plain nasty, or some combination of these. The servers are hit or miss, with one or two that are great, some that are adequate, and most are slow and incompetent. My family and I meet here often because it is convenient, but we will not be coming back to this restaurant. We will either go somewhere else entirely or start meeting in Charlotte.
Undercooked and Underwhelmed. We went to this location last night and the whole table was sorely disappointed.I got the Ultimate Feast, which came with a lobster tail, crab legs, fried shrimp and shrimp scampi. The lobster tail was far from fresh and was undercooked. It looked honestly like it had been microwaved. My crab legs were cold! The fried shrimp were doughy tasting and not crisp at all, and the shrimp scampi, while cooked, were not as tasty as they normally are. This was the way it went with everyone at the table. We did enjoy the salads, and the bread, but that was the limit. Our waitress was kind and attentive, but this did not make it a decent meal unfortunately. I will try the Hickory location one more time, and then I’m giving up on the Red Lobster.
I agree with the other reviews…. Overpriced, undercooked and very, very small portions. Stay far away unless you want to piss your money away on a sub-par meal.
Stay ver far away! We just left this restaurant and the food was terrible. The ‘new’ wood-fire grilled food saturated the entire plate so everything tasted the same… and that wasn’t a good thing. The shrimp were rubbery while the steak was severly under cooked. The steak peppercorn seasoning was almost as bad as the wood-fire taste. We will not be back any time soon.
