Its The Ice Cream You Want Here. This place has been around since the late ’40’s, and is a total throw back to that time, including vinyl covered booths and a pink and green neon clock. You order food on one side and ice cream on the other. They make their own ice cream here, and have done so for years.The food, hot dog, hamburger, and fries are just ok – the chili on the dog has little flavor. But the milkshakes and the ice cream here are very, very good – good enough that if you get anywhere close, you need to stop here.The 4 stars is for the ice cream only – the food would be at about 2 1/2.
The food is southern grill style which I like but the shakes are not as great as everyone makes them out to be. I still buy a everytime though ;p. It’s a historical part of Gastonia and I hope it stays around for a long time.
A timeless treasure
Don’t Waste your Time. I don’t understand why people like Tony’s so much. The ice cream is not good and the food is really bad.
