Exceptional Middle Eastern food! And don’t miss dessert–Rice pudding, baklava, and creme caramel are all great. Produce and all the food is very fresh.
Great flavors and great service make for a good meal. This is a favorite of mine when I am in Greensboro and it never fail to live up to my memories of it.
The best Falafel I’ve had in the US. Great baba and tabouleh too. Service was a little slow but well worth the wait. I have a new favorite Mediterranean restaurant in NC
I saw all the positive review for Chef Samir and thought we’d give it a try. Overall, it was a positive experience and I would go back. First of all, I am sure you will never see another dining area that looks like Chef Samir’s anywhere else in the Triad. I think there were nine crystal chandeliers in a dining room not much bigger than a large living room. All over the walls were egyptian themed posters and art. You wouldn’t have a hard time believing you were in another country, as most American restaurants are not this over the top. The service was fine, although not exceptional. However, the food was excellent. Chef Samir’s food is some of the healthiest tasting food I have ever had. We tried the hummus, which was good, although I could have done without the oil he puts on top of it. Both of our entrees came with salads with a light oil dressing, which were very good. I had shrimp scampi, which I would recommend, although it is not prepared the same way the traditional Italian version of the dish is. My wife had the lamb kabobs, which were good also (they were supposed to be filet mignon kabobs, but they were out of beef that night). Portions were adequate, but not huge for the money. My only real qualm with Chef Samir’s is that the prices are on the high side for what you get, although not unreasonable. As I said before, I would go back and would recommend Chef Samir to someone who is sick of the same old thing.
Good food. I’ve been here 3 times and the chicken kabab has always been great!
We were staying at a hotel nearby, and picked Chef Samir Shaltout because they were the best rated thing within a very close radius. We had three orders of shewarma. Chicken, Beef and Kofta. We picked them up and took them back to the hotel. The restaurant is in a strip mall, but once you’re inside, it’s looks legit. Once we got the boxes open we knew we’d made a good choice. All the shewarma was excellent. The sides were great, too. The salads were made with good lettuce that was dark green! Just what we needed after a couple of long days of travel and fried eating. 10/10 would eat again.
To Be experienced And Enjoyed. The food here simply continues to impress, as does the pleasant, helpful attitude of the folks at this small gem of a restaurant – easily one of the 2 or 3 best additions to the ethnic food choices in the Triad over the last several years. The Mixed Grill was ever bit as good as the last time we tried it, as were the appetizers- Hummus, Babaghanoush, Mousakka, Egyptian Yogurt, Spicy Potatoes (these little suckers are spicy), and especially the Stuffed Grape Leaves – which are rarely done well in this area – reminds me of the same problem you encounter trying to find a very good egg roll.A new dish we did try was Lamb Shank (or Moza) with onion, carrots, and spices in a tomato sauce – quite different from any version I’d eaten or prepared before. The Lamb Shank is without a doubt the best dish we’ve tried here, and that is saying something. It is falling off the bone tender, moist, and loaded with fresh, sweet lamb flavor. Another good meal, and great experience.
