The Chef’s from New Orleans and it shows!. We’ve enjoyed 2 recent dinners at Devall’s and definitely plan to return. This is a local business. It may not be as slick as some of the chain restaurants, but if you really like New Orleans food, please check it out. The Etouffee’s (crawfish and shrimp) and the Seafood Gumbo are both delicious and authentic. Everyone in our group felt the same way. It’s great to find a place outside of Louisiana that understands what this food is all about. I’ve tried Cajun food prepared at other restaurants where it seemed as though the chef couldn’t find New Orleans on a map with both hands, let alone do justice to the cuisine.

Never got a meal. My wife and I wanted to try Devall’s this past Saturday night. Upon entering we were told to find a place to sit and then waited 25 minutes for something to happen….anything. Twice we were told we’d get water and have someone take our order but…nada. Now if Devalls had been really busy I would have understood better but it wasn’t aprticularly busy. And in the time we were there we only saw one food order get brought out of the kitchen. It looked appetizing but we finally gave up and left.

Both Quality & Quantity Have Declined, Noticeably. For our second experience with the food at this restaurant, we tried a couple of different dishes, including Shrimp Etouffee ($12.95), Spicy Seafood Gumbo ($14.99), and Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya ($14.95), with sides of Beans & Rice ($3.99), Stuffed Potato, and Cajun Fries. We also had the Taste of Louisiana appetizer platter ($12.95)While some of the items were flavorful, we were rather disappointed overall in both the quality and portion size of some of the dishes. The Shrimp Ettoufee had a nice rich sauce reflecting its brown roux base, but the shrimp were somewhat overcooked. Instead of being served over rice, a handful of rice was dumped in the middle, and the side of coleslaw made no appearance. The Jambalaya Plate was rather plentiful with decent underlying flavor, but was rather dry.The Spicy Seafood Gumbo was indeed spicy, and overall was a flavorful dish, but the size was small, and the only seafood encountered was shrimp, and there was almost no okra. The Red Beans & Rice side dish had almost no sausage – when we’d had the dish before there was a nice amount of sausage. The Stuffed Potato and FFs were fine. The Taste of Louisiana platter was perhaps the most disappointing of all. The size was less than half that we’d been served before, and it was not as flavorful. We may give this place another try, but this was indeed not the same quality or quantity we’d enjoyed before. It was a struggle to give the experience 3 stars, 2 1/2 would have been closer.
