An Exceptional Dining Experience. We had dinner here Thursday with a close friend to celebrate a major move upward for him in his career in the restaurant industry – he’s a true professional with a track record of accomplishment and longevity. Gia seemed like a nice choice for this moment as we had shared our first dinner here with him, as well. This visit was actually our 3rd here, 2 coming in the last several weeks. The first experience was well over a year ago, and we left with a sense of the potential here, but a wait and see attitude for several reasons. The second visit was a pleasant one, much improved other the first. This latest was near perfect, one of those defining culinary moments that helps you identify a restaurant as exceptional, from your own perspective at least, if that level of quality can be achieved consistently, always the key,We ask for a table near the window, and were quickly seated by Nino Giaimo, the personable owner. Lindsay was our wait person, and between the efforts of the two of them, the success of our evening was most assured. Our drink orders were placed and filled in the most timely manner we’d experienced here, and this was consistent throughout the evening. We started with the Chef’s Charcuterie Plate ($16), a nice selection of meat and cheeses, all of which were excellent. We followed this with a Prosciutto & Arugula FlatBread ($9), Veal Scaloppini ($12), Pan-Seared Chicken Breast ($9), and Flash Fried Artichokes ($7). Based on Lindsay’s recommendation, we paired these with a very nice wine, Los Rocas Garnacha 2009 ($38). Most of the choices were excellent, especially the Charcuterie, the Chicken, and the flatbread. The Veal is not a dish I’d order again, as I prefer it prepared in a different manner. We chose the Tiramisu ($8) and one of the featured desserts with a small fruit Macaroon, Chocolate Mousse, and a dark chocolate torte. Mr. Giaimo recommended a J. Lohr Harvest Riesling ($10.95) with a small Biscotti for dunking (a family tradition) – Yeap, dunking! Excellent. All in all, one of the most pleasant dining experiences we’ve enjoyed in a while. The food and drink were excellent, but had been for the most part, in our previous visits. The service provided by Lindsay & Mr. Giaimo was what elevated this to the sublime. Thanks to both – We’ll be back, looking for that elusive consistency.

I just had the best time with one of my best girlfriends there tonight! We sat out on the balcony which was quiet but had soft music piped out. I love the edgy cosmopolitan atmosphere that is still warm and inviting (one of the seating areas is a small library). This is a restaurant where you go when you aren’t in a hurry but rather you want to stay, and linger for a while. The food was excellent–my favorites were the small plate filet, the pan fried artichoke hearts, the prosciutto wrapped asparagus spears, and for desert, you have GOT to order the hot, fresh, homemade pretzels with chocolate sauce and sea salt. Trust me, it was worth the 10 min wait for them to make it on a per order basis….it was like some sinfully delicious state fair dessert, but way, way more classy. I will definately go again.
Absolute favorite!. What a fantastic restaurant! I have been several times with friends and family and would recommended to anyone who is looking for great food and atmosphere. They have an array of choices (my personal favorite would be the spinach and goat cheese flatbread) all perfectly portioned for one or to share trying many different plates. Their cocktail class once a month is too much fun for Sundays! It has been so nice to discover a place where you can relax and have delicious food. Did I mention that they even have a salsa group on Sundays! I went this weekend for the Valentine’s Day prefix menu and wasn’t disappointed with that either.
I’m ready to go back already. I had the Proscuitto and Arugula flatbread, Framboise raspberry beer, and a slice of really delicious chocolate cake. I’m sad I was too full to eat anymore lol! I hope to do more of the tapas experience next time. The bartender, Erica, was super excellent!
I don’t get it. This place is very good. The food is eclectic but fits, and is fairly priced for a high end bistro setting. The bar manager Randy Spence is great & makes awesome cocktail recipes that rival what you would find in DC or NYC markets. Plus the selection of artists for live music is a step above you’re average bar/restaurant. Go there, relax, and enjoy your evening. Life’s too short to get annoyed at the small things.
Reservations are not enough here… It took an HOUR to receive Eggplant tapas… When we arrived reasonably quiet restaurant … Numerous clients were with glass in hand… We noticed no one had food …as we were unfamiliar with the size of the tapas for deciding on how much to order for our group… The salmon special was wonderful, but others at our own table appeared to be plated notably different with less prosciutto for the next round served. The place was in full swing… Still waiting on the eggplant … The place was very noisy … A Thursday evening… We could barely hear a note of the jazz band over the echoes of clients and a couple of times breaking something … A phone … And something else dropped… There was not enough seating… No way to expand the table… Our bottle was sent to the bar to be uncorked… Really! The staff at the front door was unable to accept our payment… Yet had a nice computer screen and was not seating anyone. The owner was not available … Only available Tuesdays and Wednesdays as he was taking care of his hotels in Virginia… The utensils were not conducive to the food served… The knives were not sharp enough to cut eggplant skin! We decided not to order dessert as we did not know when or if it would arrive without prodding 3x in an hour…
