  We ate at Harpers in Friendly Shopping Center tonight. We had made reservations for6:00 and I am sure glad we did. Folks coming in when we did had a 45 minute wait. Sam was our server and he did a wonderful job with us. He was informative and interesting. We hadnt eaten at Harpers for quite a while and are pleased we went back. Ribs that fall off the bone, salmon cooked to perfection, crab cakes that were mostly crab and a ribeye with some of the fat trimmed off but just enough to give it good taste. Sam was asked to suggest a wine and he hit it spot on. The Bloody Mary was out of this world. The pickled green bean garnish were so unusual and delicious. We will be going back for brunch on Sunday morning and $7.00 Bloody Marys.

  Female tables they are rude. The wait people are rude. I got a free beverage. the management hates complaints .said nothing is wrong. the wait staff not volunteer to do anything. except for try to start fights. talk back rude,put finger in the food,;yell at ,walk away and not want to come back to finish the job, interrupt,and only give good service to male tables. bring wrong order and not do anything about it, demand tip money,rush to get rid of. throw bill to customers and not come back. the food half cooked.not a tip and the wait staff got angry.

  Very Good, But A Bit Pricey. Still am really enjoying this local restaurant – and yes, I know it is part of a small chain out of Charlotte – but they offer some pretty good food, the service is excellent, and they have a nice, classic bar – for those that are interested in that sort of thing.The Burger ($10) remains very good, cooked to your call, loaded with flavor, well sized – get it simply dressed – they offer some strange topping, including BBQ sauce, and CABBAGE – really? We tried their Spanish Rice as a side, and this was very good, with a nice touch off heat.The Cod & Chips ($15) is not always on the menu, but when it is, it is worth a try. The Cod is well breaded, and perfectly cooked, flaky & moist inside. A little on the pricey side for a lunch meal, but excellent flavor. The slaw here is a little weird, and sweet – they put some brown sugar in it – not my favorite.The Beef Brisket (also $15) is also surprisingly good, but it too is rather pricey. We tried the FF (super) and Black Beans, also very nice. The better values here are in their sandwiches and salds, the full plate entrees (usually with a side) are expensive, especially orr the portion you get.16 Jun, 2011Lunch Only Kind Of Place. This is a nicely decorated, well lit, modern style restaurant, with a nice bar area. it is a very good place for a nice lunch salad or sandwich, including their burger which is quite good, if a little pricey – S10 with no side. In fact, most of the dishes here are a little pricey, and the non-salad or sandwich items are just ok. For those reasosn I never think of Harper’s as a dinner destination. The entrees are rather boring, and the appetizers are few, and not all that appealing, so having a drink in the bar, and grazing on small items really isn’t an option.
