Rude and poor service. I have been to Liberty Oak twice now. Will never return. Poor and rude service! I emailed them explaining the displeasure we had and never heard back.
Nice Lunch Spot Downtown. I’ve always enjoyed eating at this nice place, especially for lunch, and that goes back to when they were located on Lawndale Drive. The layout and atmosphere here is very pleasant, much better than the noisy, low ceiling configuration at the original location. There are two levels of seating, with seating spaced adequately for some privacy in conservation. There is also some outside seating, subject to weather considerations.I especially enjoy the lunch menu because they have always been creative with sandwiches and salads. The Grilled Salmon Salad with a blood orange vinaigrette is different, and nice, as is the Oriental Salad with skewers of beef tenderloin OR tofu on a bed of noodles dressed with an herbed vinaigrette. The Salad Nicoise is a pretty traditional version (at least a pretty traditional American version of the French classic), while the makeup of the Chicken Salad seems to change daily. They offer a nice Smoked Salmon plate, a Pate and Cheese plate (featuring duck liver pate), ana Mediterranean plate with a very good hummus. My sandwich favorites: any burger, they have a nice veggie sandwich (can’t remember the menu name), the Serape Havana with pulled pork, the Sgt Pepper with turkey, cheese, and a pepper jelly that is very good. But, my all time favorite is the Crab Cake sandwich – simply outstandingThe service here has always been a little bit funky, a little bit inconsistent, especially at peak periods. I find going early can keep this negative aspect to a minimum. Parking can be problematic, but there is a garage right behind the restaurant. Finally, this is not the cheapest place in downtown Greensboro to get a salad or sandwich for lunch, but I find the experience of food and atmosphere to be worth the price.11 Jul, 2011Interesting Salads and Sandwiches. Visitor from out of town, great service! Good local beers. Food was highlightedbY the flavor of the product & not hidden with sauces. We tried crab cakes, the pork & tuna. Only critical comment, the wine list could better. Also, nice atmosphere.
Had a date with my muse on the patio! We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was interesting as usual. I tried the buttermilk marinated fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gazpacho soup. Everything was fresh an the sevice was attentive.
Always Consistent. I eat at Liberty Oak for lunch at least twice a week, many times I get it to go, since I work nearby. Every time I order, I’m always happy with my choice, whether it’s one of my fav. standards like the roast beef and brie, or sweet pot. ginger soup or one of the daily specials. My food always comes out quickly, and correctly, making for a stress free lunch. I also love the patio in sunny days.
Love this place.. I have eaten here 6 times and have never been disappointed. Great menu, great service and a reasonably price wine selection.
Got two good recommendations for Liberty Oak Tavern. When I got there at 8:45 for dinner I was told the kitchen was closed by a rather rude hostess. Their food may be good, but with service and hours like that who would ever know.
