Lindley Park Filling Station is truly a laid back, fun place to grab a burger and a pint. We sat outside on the patio on a Monday evening, and it was surprisingly not crowded. The awnings, shade trees, and walls gave the outdoor dining space a nice intimate feel, very different than the open sidewalk-adjacent feeling of Emma Key’s across the street. They also had an open mike night, featuring a gentleman playing the guitar. Restaurant patrons were encouraged to participate as well which I thought was a really fun idea – they had a guitar, microphone, and bongo drums you could use to further that endeavor. As far as the food goes, there is little I would change. Their pickles were some of the best I have ever had, and my burger had a good taste and consistency (not too tough or too greasy). They also had a good beer selection on tap as well as in bottles. I think at the end of the day, I would give the nod to Emma Key’s for having a more flavorful burger, but I prefer the atmosphere at LPFS. LPFS also has a wider array of other items on the menu than Emma Key’s does, so it is the more versatile choice between the two for non-burger lovers. Between LPFS, Emma Key’s, Hops Burger Bar, and Big Burger Spot, Greensboro is really developing a solid list of craft burger joints.
