Salvio’s is fantastic! I went with a couple of friends a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed ourselves! I tried the lobster ravioli… It was delicious! One of my friends got a salmon salad and the other got the chicken sauted with angel hair pasta. Both said their meals were fantastic too!
Don’t ever let them know you are not a local!!!. My husband and I finally gave up and walked out of this restaurant after 2 hours and no food. They initially said it would be an hour but it was almost two before we got our table. My husband didn’t believe it at first but it eventually became obvious that we were getting passed over for regulars showing up. When they finally did give us a table, the server started taking orders of people seated after us so we walked out. We got right in to another nearby popular restaurant and salvaged the evening. Out of town folks: Avoid this place at all costs!!!! Consider yourself warned!
Wonderful food great service. I recommend eggplant parigania and any fish excellently moist Great desert
Great staff! Excellent food. The Mussels Fra Diablo were the best. Fresh bread and salad. Loved the flourless chocolate cake!
Best Italian In The Triad. This small place on the side of a strip mall on Battleground Avenue is one of the best, classical Italian restaurants in this area, probably in North Carolina. Recently, within the same week, we ate here and at Vivace in North Hills in Raleigh, rated as perhaps the best Italian restaurant in the Raleigh area. Salvino Cucina serves more of the traditional dishes, but in areas where the dishes overlapped (calamari, veal, pasta) Salvino’s was as good or better. The Escargots and the Calamari Fritti are both excellent starts. The potato and spinach Gnocchi is a little too rich for my taste due to the gorgonzola cream sauce. The Pasta & Fagioli soup is nice as well, small portion, but tasty.Their signature Lasagna dish is that for a reason – the best I’ve had, anywhere. The Scaloppini di Vitillo Portofino is rich and large, enough for two. Interestingly, spaghetti is on the menu only as a side dish – and no meatballs. They only take reservations for large parties, and at times on the weekend it can be crazy at peak times, and frankly, the seating is not always done on a first come, first serve basis, and they can be a little arrogant about it. I have chosen to avoid those time periods here. The wait staff is excellent and attentive, and add significantly to the overall experience of dining here.
This is the best Italian food this side of the Atlantic. I lived in Italy for two years and this is the real deal. You simply won’t get a more delicious or authentic Italian food experience without buying a plane ticket!
The Triad’s best Italian food! Enough said.
