Ive been to other Korean barbecue places in other cities. All were very generous with the food, the food was excellent, and the service was wonderful. I cant say the same thing about Seoul Garden. I was traveling with a friend and she had never tried Korean barbecue. I wanted to give her a treat and the only Korean BBQ seemed to be Seoul Garden. We ordered 2 shared dishes, and there was barely enough meat for one person. Truthfully, if it were not for the fact the I could identify the meats as ones we ordered, I would have thought they forgot one of the meals. The other Korean barbecue places Ive gone to have had enough sides that no matter what, you could find something you like. There were only 6, and one of the sides was sliced hot dogs -Seriously! I was appalled when I saw that. Im not talking about a Korean sausage that looked like a hot dogs, it was literally sliced hot dogs!My friend said she did not want the stew, they served it to her anyway. And tracking the staff down was its own special joy. I will say the tea at the end of the meal was excellent, but to pay $80+ for a meal and to think the tea is the only thing to rave about is not worthwhile. All in all, ridiculously overpriced, mediocre food and way too little of it, and mediocre service. My sympathies go out to the folks in Greensboro if this is the only Korean BBQ they have in the area.
The food is great! But the service has gotten worse over the 5 years I have been going there. The best waitress there left and after they hired other people the service has been bad. There is this one lady there that works there who is tip hungry. We had about 11 people and they only gave us 2 sets of side dishes and when we asked for ONE refill on those side dishes she said they aren’t allowed too. I have been going there for 5 years and no one has ever said that to us. I would understand if we had already asked for a refill, but this was our first time asking. Our water was never refilled we had to ask and even after asking wait 20 minutes for the water. The food came out all scattered and so half of us were done eating, the others were just starting to eat or were not served their food yet. We literally had to chase the waitress down to ask where the food was. (There was not a lot of customers there). Then on top of that the waitress shamed me for feeding my two year old niece a little bit of soda in front of everyone. So when the bill came out and it was time for tip we didn’t feel like the service was that great we did not leave a big tip. She stopped us while we were leaving for more tip. So since we didn’t want to cause a scene we gave her more than she deserved. Then when we walked to our cars she chased us saying we were $4 short tip…..so at this point we are all upset because her service sucked and she was rude to us and we tipped her enough for her shitty service and now she is chasing us to our cars for $4 more…WE WILL NOT BE RETURNING HERE ANYMORE.
In general, I’m not the biggest fan of Korean food, but there are a few dishes I like. I found Seoul Garden to be as good as any other Korean restaurant I’ve been to. The bulgogi was good, but my wife found the kimchi to taste weird. The katsu don came in one big piece, rather than cut up into strips like every other place I’ve ever had it does. There aren’t too many Korean restaurants in the Triad, so if you’re looking for one, Seoul Garden fits the bill.
