I don’t know where those people who posted the negative reviews ate, but I totally disagree. I drive from Reidsville to eat here, so you know I must think it is good. The selections are varied, the service is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend it to someone who wants to enjoy a casual meal.

Great menu and good wine selection wait staff is friendly and attentive, the bar area is small, intimate, and full service. I can’t wait for warmer weather to dine with my pooch on their patio.

The food was delicious and the service very friendly. I had a wonderful black bean soup and amazingly tasty vegetarian portobello mushroom dish. I’m definitely going back!

Go to Josephine’s instead. My husband and I ate at Southern Lights last night and were very disappointed. Both the wine list and the menu were limited and overpriced. The carpets looked dirty and the atmosphere left much to be desired. We found the food to be exceedingly average. My salad tasted like something we could buy across the lot at Harris Teeter and his soup like it could have come from a can. We were expecting the quality of food we normally enjoy at Josephine’s on Spring Garden. Next time, we’ll remember to just go there instead.

Dirty and poor menu selection for lunch. From a distance this place looks lovely and poetic, once you enter you will see dirty food covered walls and dust covered edges, plus a menu full of sandwiches! Lunch time doesn’t mean everyone wants a sandwich, I had an extremely hard time selecting something to eat!!Service was acceptable

Mixed Reviews. Finally visited the new location, and there were things to like, and things to like not so much. The place is small, well decorated in a modern, upscale way – the prior funkiness is gone. The bar area is semi-walled off from the dining area, and there are maybe 5 seats at the bar itself, with 4 or 5 high rise tables, as well. The place is small, the tables rather close together, so it is loud, and rather impersonal feeling. Our waitress was great, efficient and friendly; and the lady bartender mixes a very nice martini of decent size. They have salad and such menu available, and add apps and entrees for the evening repast. The appetizers were, at least by my taste a little strange, so we opted for the house salad with blue cheese dressing, Citrus Roasted Cornish Game Hen, and the Pan Seared Sea Bass. The salad is nice, and the blue cheese exceptional. But about then the wheels came off, the entrees were not only not exceptional, they were simply bad food. The game hen, listed as Citrus Roasted Cornish Hen, was in fact a half a game hen. It was undercooked (there was blood around the joints), and the white bean and Neese’s sausage ragout it was nestled on was stone cold. The broclic seemed ok. We sent the poorly treated bird back, something I rarely do.The Pan Seared Sea Bass was burnt on the skin side, as was most of the medley of root vegetables it rested on. The prosciutto and garlic butter sauce consisted of a small mass on top of the fish, and was cold to the touch and the taste. We nibbled at the parts of the fish not charred, after all it was dinner time, and ordered another glass of wine, alas we had no bread to eat go with our wine – don’t most folks offer you bread? Not quite sure what to make of this experience. Kitchen had a bad night, at least as far as we were concerned, and this is the first time I’ve had a bad meal at this restaurant. It is also the first time I’ve eaten at the new location. Probably will give it another shot – loved the waitress and the bartender, that’s something to build on.
