Far From The Best Thai Around. We keep trying the restaurants near us, ones we’ve tried more than a few times before, always hoping they’ll be better, be what we’re looking for, be what we’re hoping for – we are more stubborn than realistic, it seems. This is one of those restaurants that after we order and eat, we say never again, and this time I mean it, I’m pretty sure. The appetizers here have always been a better choice for us than the main entrees, but it is a little difficult to build an entire meal out of appetizers, and it is another way of settling for less than you really want. The Crispy Spring Rolls (5 for $5.95) were just ok, not nearly as good as the Shrimp Egg Rolls we usually choose. The Tara Thai Dumplings (also 5 for $5.95) was our other app choice, and these did not disappoint. We tried several new (to us anyway) entrees in search of a winner. One choice was the Beef Noodle Soup ($11.95, medium hot) because we’d had such a great version at another Thai restaurant, Thai Chiang Mai. Unfortunately, this version lacked both flavor and heat, though it was requested at medium. We also picked the Wild Curry with Shrimp ($12.95) which also was disappointing, bland and lacked freshness. The Pork Fried Rice ($10.95) was ok, but nothing at all special.Just settling doesn’t really get it. We’ll pass from now on.04 Jul, 2011Not A Bad Neighborohood Choice For Thai. This is a solid thai restaurant – solid, not spectacular. It is located on the very back edge of a trip center off Dolley Madison Road in the Guilford College section – nice, clean place. This place is a big improvemeny over the previous thai restaurant at this location, Sriri Siam iirc, as to the quality of the food, however, the service can be inconsistent. The lunch items here are a real value (dinner is not bad value, just that lunch is great with soup and a roll thrown in), with good sized portions pricing out, before drink , tip, or tax, something over $6. The Pad Thai here is very nice, the curries are generally good as well. The Tom Kha soup with shrimp is a favorite. And any of the stir fries with basil or hot chilies is very good.Folks here are friendly, though from time to time language can be a problem. I have had excellent service on all take out orders, which we do quite often, it is inhouse that things can be slow, both from the wait staff and the kitchen. Still, all in all, not a bad choice for thai – about on par with Rearn Thai, sonewhat below Taste of Thai, as much for less variety as anything else.
Absolutely wonderful! Full flavor curry, coconut and lemongrass! Clean, friendly and delicious every time. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Best Thai Food. I have searched far and wide for a Panaeng curry that rivals Tara Thai’s but to no avail. This is hands down the best curry I have found on the east coast. I have tried the Panaeng curry in many restaurants in all the major cities and have not found one that is even close. Tara Thai becomes a home, the lunch specials are unbeatable in value and taste and the owners are warm and caring. This is my favorite restaurant, and Panaeng is my favorite food.
I guess their service went down. The waitress was not happy to answer the questions about menu when I was there in last weekend. Food was ok.
The service is excellent. My husband and I are regular customers! Go Tara Thai!
Above average, friendly staff, good prices
One of the best. Tara Thai and Rearn Thai are the Best Thai in Greensboro…. hands down. Two completely different restaurants….. Tara Thai is traditional while Rearn Thai with their new location is very modern. The Mild Five Flavor Fish is to die for.
