Love this place! Been away from Greensboro for over 12 years but always try to grab pancakes here with my family whenever I return. The food is priced right, tastes good, and arrives to the table hot. You really can’t ask for much more than that.

We had the bacon waffles. Wow! Crisp bacon cooked into a butter milk waffle! It was fantastic.

Not sure what the negative reviews are about, but we had an awesome experience. The service was spot on, and the food was delicious. Best country ham I’ve had this trip! On would come here regularly if I called Greensboro home!

Wildly Mediocre. We stood by the Wait to be seated sign while all the staff tried to keep from making eye contact with us for far too long. We should have left then because it just got worse. The turkey sausage omelet was just turkey sausage and eggs. It did have the waitresses finger in it when she brought it out Yuck! The cheese in the ham and cheese omelet wasn’t even melted. The pancakes which I guess they are know for we’re nothing special either. I’d stick to Waffle House if you want this sort of food. Waffle House is just as grungy but the food is better and the people aren’t as rude.

For what it is, it’s very good.. This is a true southern style breakfast place (though they serve lunch as well). I’ve had the opportunity to try the fried chicken which was decent but not memorable by any means and the corncakes which are a like a cornbread pancake. The corncakes were fantastic – light, fluffy, and delicious with honey. The negative here is that you leave feeling awful – the servings are large which is to be expected but also very heavy and greasy. That being said, every once in a while I crave heavy comfort food and Tex & Shirley’s a nice remedy. My service was OK – she was friendly and nice but unable to make suggestions which I HATE! I’m a true believer that customer service employees (let’s be honest – that is really what servers are) should be passionate about their product. I understand not everyone has a job where passion exists BUT then they should @ the very least be knowledgable. My waitress was neither – she said she avoids eating there because everything is awful for you. Maybe it’s just me but I sure as hell would not want my staff describing my food to a customer in that manner. Honesty is an extremly desirable trait as well in a server BUT if their views on all of the menu items are negative they would be better suited to work somewhere where her interests would actually benefit the business. Just my opinion 🙂

Pancakes, Pancakes, Pancakes. I forget about Tex & Shirley’s, and I’m not quite sure why, used to eat here often when the kids were young – good cheap food, just endured the heavy smoking – oldsters lingering over coffee, just puffing away. It is just a mile or so from where we live, just across from Sears – seems like I forget about Sears too – well hang on, Whole Foods is coming. We dropped in for breakfast last week, and breakfast is the meal here, and pancakes is the order at breakfast – venture off the pancakes at your own risk. Eggs are rarely cooked to order,- only 18.3% of the time – OK, I made that up, but the eggs just don’t get it done – well maybe overdone is doable.Just pick the right time, early is best, and order the pancakes. They offer a nice variety, and most are good – though I seriously doubt I’ll every try the Chili Pancakes – two corn pancakes with chili and cheddar cheese. I mean really, corn pancakes? I stick with the old tried & true buttermilk pancakes, and love’em. My eife likes a lot of their different pancakes, and the Belegian Waffle, as well.Service as always been spotty here, and at peak times it can go south fast. Go early, or be prepared to be patient at times. Pricing is not outrageous, but it is not the cheapest breakfast in town. But, if you like pancakes, come on down.
