Pleasantly Surprised. As a frequent traveler I bounce around the US and generally eat dinner by myself. Sometimes it’s hit most times it’s miss.I’d been longing for French Cooking for a long time so when I placed a reservation for two, me and the client, I was pleasantly surprised that I got a table with only an hour’s notice. Not a fan of wines the waitress, Karen, helped me to pick one that matched the duck I’d ordered and one for the other gentleman I was with. For two guys eating at the place it was a tad creepy. Almost everyone there was there for special occasions or something. But the owner came by, shook our hands and chatted for a bit.The duck I had was excellent but not very filling. The vegetables were steamed and seasoned well. My only complaint would be that for the price I wished they would have served more. This place also has a monthly news letter I joined, which frequently taunts me, with the new items on their menu I wish I could try but being based out of Indianapolis I can’t try. They also use local food which I find interesting and would like to see more people doing that.
Good service, but the food was very average -especially for the price. Our appetizers were good, but my entree underwhelmed. Scallops were gritty and lentils (one if ny favs) were undercooked. Dont think I’d go back – especially not to spend that kind of money.
It was ok. Unlike many of the other reviewers, we had great service. Though, the maitre d was awkward; he made a strange joke about our online reservation. The room is nice and airy, where you can hear bustling, but not other conversations. I ordered two dishes off the specials menu. The salad was described to have a slightly curried dressing with candied ginger and pistachios. It was very refreshing, but the pistachios made it very difficult to eat. The dressing was a little weaker than I expected. Then I got the mussels and grouper with bacon, rice, squash, and a pistachio pistou. The mussels were fine, but the grouper was overcooked. There clearly wasn’t enough pistou, since I could barely taste it. If it weren’t for the very flavorful bacon, I would have been sad. My colleague ordered the scallops. They looked beautiful! Alas, since it was a work meeting, I didn’t get to taste them. While it wasn’t a terrible experience, I feel that the food wasn’t as good as it could have been. In all, I wouldn’t go back. I’m sure there are other, better restaurants in Greensboro.
Wonderful!. I took my boyfriend here for his birthday. I used a groupon because it’s a bit pricey… but completely worth it. The service was great- not snobby at all, but highly knowledgeable. My boyfriend got the rib eye and I got the scallops. Both dishes were amazing! We had the lobster spring rolls for an appetizer and they were tasty- especially the dipping sauce (soy reduction and another ginger sauce). The dessert- chocolate something… but it was perfect. Friday nights are free corkage nights so bring your own bottle! This was a special night and we will be back. Elegant, understated, delicious.
Great place even for vegetarians. My wife and I went there while passing though on vacation. The food and service was number one, I had the fish special that night and it was 100% great. My wife who is a vegetarian was able to work with the waitress and got a great meatless meal as well, it is so nice to find a place that will do this. The desert was also very good.
Food was good (not best in the world but good). However the service was quite poor. I ate with a group and never got my salad. I didn’t say anything initially because I though with the large group they needed to go back to get mine. By the time I realized, everyone else was almost done, so I decided to give up. For the prices they charge, an apology and an offer to take it home at the end of the meal doesn’t cut it.
Best in Town. In my book, this IS the best place to eat in town. Everything is always perfect and the service is amazing. A no cork fee on Friday makes it 1st choice for us on Fridays especially.
