Fantastic food. Excellent value for the price. It wasn’t just the hungry-man’s portions we were served, it was the level of authenticity and fresh flavor I enjoyed. After living in Bacoli, the beachtown outskirts of Naples, Italy, I give this restaurant my street cred stamp of approval!!! Great food!
David. I have been coming to this restaurant for ten years for one reason……it is undoubtedly the best Italian food outside of Italy and probably rivals many restaurants in Italy. My wife and her mother are Italian and they agree that it’s totally authenic and there are no shortcuts taken. It is family owned by true Italian chefs and well worth the trip. My favorite is the chicken cacciatore……the red sauce I could eat alone with their homemade breads. The bruschetta is to die for and the wine selection is superb. Each sauce is individually prepared and they stand alone, both red and white, as an example of how true Italian sauces should taste. Don’t be fooled by chain stores pretty pictures…..this is the real deal!
There is no better Italian food anywhere. The wait staff is fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. Try the shrimp carbonara.
Great Italian food made by actual Italians. Cant imagine why youd go to Carrabbas (which i like) or worse, Pastabilities, with this nearby.
A taste of Little Italy. Don’t be fooled by the strip-mall location! This is what Italian food is supposed to be – good, fresh ingredients, cooked simply but perfectly. It’s a family-owned business run by Italian New Yorkers who take the time to chat with you, but still run the house with bustling efficiency. I’ve never had a bad meal here. Try whatever is on special, you won’t be sorry.
The Red Sauce is Soooo Good!. This is real deal Italian!! As much as I love the convenience and upscale atmospheres of the Elizabeth’s chains, this Italian food brought me back to my childhood days on Long Island and dining in NYC. We had a combination plate that gave us heaping portions of lasagna, manicotti, and veal cutlet. The atmosphere is just right–very warm and homey. The warm bread and olive oil is delicioso!! The slightly out of the way location in Golden Gate Shopping Center which recently lost its Harris Teeter is not prime real estate. Nonetheless run to this outstanding authentic Italian restaurant that is the last of a dying breed! I could eat the red sauce just on its own and I did!! Fantastic prices too and unheard of specials on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday.
I had the good fortune of living in Chicago for years and was convinced that I had the bounty of perfection with international foods within reach with little effort. Moving to NC made me think I would never have great Italian food again unless I moved to Italy. Remarkably, the best Italian restaurant I have ever been to is surprisingly in Greensboro,NC. Vito’s Italian Restaurant delivers amazing cuisine integrity beyond anything I have had throughout traveling the world. Chicago gave a good boost to appreciation, but Vito’s in Greensboro convinces me that I will never need to go back to Italy to experience all of the delights of authentic Italian cuisine!
