Ranks right up there with the best in the country. I have eaten at the best sushi restaurants in major cities all over the Untied States and UMI ranks right up there with any of them. How lucky are we to have this gem right here in Hendersonville! The wonderful ambiance,friendly staff and great service round out the package for the perfect restaurant. We like it better than anyrestaurant within reasonable driving distance of our home. (We live in Tryon) Everyone we know feels thesame way which is why we take the trip up to Hendersonville with friends at least twice a month to eat theirdelicious food. We only wish there were more restaurants in our area that lived up to their high standards.
I’ll keep this simple. UMI is a excellent Japanese restaurant. I have lived in Japan and I know what the food should look like, and how it should taste. It is not inexpensive, but you expect a great restaurant to be at least in the $$$ category. It is.
High prices for avrage sushi. Prices were not worth the food or the service
I have had sushi in Japan and Hawaii, this is as good or BETTER! A jewel found in the mountains of North Carolina!
Love it, but more vinegar and sugar please!. We love Umi’s, especially the bento boxes at lunch….try the fish in any form. Their sushi are perfectly formed and generous, but wish they’d put more vinegar and sugar into the sushi rice….it is not assertive enough to my taste. We often take out the bento boxes and sushi to enjoy as picnic or at home.
The best in WNC?. As far as I know still the best sushi in WNC. Sit at the sushi bar and get complimentary crab salad…nice!
The crab salad is amazing! Love the dragon roll, superman roll and if you ask for it the romantic roll! Yum!
