A 5! This place is great. The food extremely good. I’ve been getting the meat and cheese plate, varies from day to day on the cheeses but the sausage cased meats are to die for. Just perfect selection of meat, cheeses pickled veggies and fruit. Just a very very good selection of food. Service was good, staff was nice, beer and wine selection where good.
I mostly like Laplace. Good beer on tap and the food and atmosphere are very good. The portions are too small and pretty pricey. 9 bucks for rice and beans is a joke. It’s just rice (a small plop at that) and beans. Tastes great but c’mon. It’s peasant food.
Disappointing gumbo. When I saw WRAL’s write up of this place, I had to go check it out. Things started good with the appetizer. The oysters were plump, lightly breaded, and very good.However, the gumbo was bland and the serving size was ridiculously small for the prize they charge. On top of this, unlike the sandwiches, the entrees don’t come with any sides.Will probably give them another chance, but next time will stick to the Po’Boys.
