Good Southern cooking, Deviled crab, Fried Chicken was hot, fresh and crispy. BBQ was very moist and tender. Very nice hot vinegar type sauce to go along with it. Friendly atmosphere. Worth a stop if near the airport and looking for southern home cooking
BBQ & Fried Chicken. The BBQ wasn’t anything to write home about, it was a little dry but still good. The fried chicken was good as were the potato salad and macaroni salad. I’ll be back, want try the fish & shrimp! Service was great and they were very friendly, I forgot to order a sweet tea after I had paid for my order so they gave me a free tea!
Great food and southern hospitality. Everyone was so friendly and they made extremely good fried chicken and sides. They taught us Yankees what a hush puppy is. Great experience, I would recommend this place to anyone.
Great Mixture – Eastern Style BBQ & Country Cooking. If you’re not a local, this is the kind of place you really have to be looking for, to find it. Located just out of Fayetteville, near Hope Mills, it is worth the effort if you like country cooking, decent pork BBQ, fried seafood, and good value in a plain, no frills setting. This is another place where the BBQ is good, but not great, and the country cooking and fried seafood items are the real attraction. And the BBQ is good, if a little on the bland side for Eastern NC, but it is not a destination BBQ joint, at least not for me. The cue is moist and tender, moderately chopped, better on a sandwich than plated, I think. The setup here is modified cafeteria style, grab a tray, push it along the rail, order, and pay. The process is generally quick, but a line forms at peak times. The Fried Chicken here is simply excellent, and the Chicken & Pastry is also outstanding. I went back after my initial order to get a side dish of Chicken & Pastry to try, and the owner wouldn’t let me pay for it. Nice touch. The Fried Okra was very good, and the HPs are some you have to try. Prices are more than reasonable – for between 7 – 10 bucks you can eat yourself silly, if you are in to that kind of thing. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.
Great BBQ plate, fried chicken and sides.
Amazing service and incredible prices. This is the first time I had BBQ in North Carolina but it won’t be the last. The food here is a steal. My husband got a BBQ dinner plate ($6) and I had a BBQ sandwich with fries ($4). The service and the hospitality is so warm and inviting it made the meal taste that much better. My husband cleared his plate in 5 minutes (big dude and fast eater). The lady came over to fill our water, saw his empty plate and asked if he wanted some extra hush puppies (no charge). He graciously accepted the offer and she returned with hush puppies AND extra pulled pork!!!! There is nothing like southern hospitality.Don’t be turned off by the cafeteria like setting, they have a lot of extra seating in the dining room and the food is good. Good vinegar and BBQ sauce. I dipped everything I could in it.
Police Antenna Festival. I racked my feeble mind trying to come up with another title to no avail. The food is good no question about it. It isn’t healthy and I’m sure that it probably has caused a heart attack or two but hey ya gotta go sometime. Eastern North Carolina BBQ, hush puppies and slaw anytime and Salisbury steak on Thursday and Friday are your best bets. My daddy always said that when you’re away from home you can tell a good place to eat by the number of truckers who eat there. Daddy was wrong, they eat where they have room to park their truck. If you REALLY want to KNOW where to find good food prepared hot at a good price then look for patrol cars. Bruce and Mickey’s is an antenna fest of patrol cars just about everyday at lunchtime.
