Mixed feelings about Bistro B. I have eaten at Bistro B and Wine Bar three times within one month. The first two experiences were great, delicious and interesting food and good service. The third visit, however, negated my previous experiences and I will feel reluctant to try it again. The food was good, but the service was horrible. Our server seemed not to be able to hear accurately and thought that we had ordered what we had not; he made numerous mistakes in our orders. He should have written them down. It took forever to get all our orders; one member of our party got her meal after the rest of us had finished eating. Several times we had to flag down a person who was not our server in order to get some attention. It appeared that some of our orders were simply forgotten and had to be started from scratch after we asked for them a second or third time. I would be wary about going there again, but I might give it another chance.
Lack of Customer Care. I had dinner at this restaurant one time and had a bad experience. In response to this, I got a sarcastic and insincere attempt at an apology from the Owner/Chef. You can get good food a lot of places around the Piedmont Triad, you do not have to deal with the lack of customer care at this place. Run do not walk the other way!
I could not decide whether to say I like it or not. It is so in inconsistent. I have had some fabulous courses here with great service, or have had overpriced over poked food. One waitress recommended several thins and all were great, another time we went with a group, I got what was recommended, and got the worst food at the table. Feeling lucky, take a chance. It may be really worth it. Or not.
A nice surprise. Went here twice over the holidays, and couldn’t be more surprised. A business dinner was planned here and looking at the reviews, I was concerned as we would be bringing a large group and really needing the service to spot on. They lived up to their earlier reviews, service was awesome and adaptable. We were there for several hours, with veg and non-veg patrons as well as folks drinking and not drinking. We were guided well for our food chocies and wines, a quick catch of the eye of one of the wait staff and our servers were sent over quickly to see what was required. We order repeats of several dishes and I don’t recall anyone not liking what was served and selected. My second evening was much quieter, but again… wine recommendations were spot on, the variety and quality of the food was worth every penny paid. Will definitely go again, and it has been added to the list of restaurants we will choose from if another team event is required and we need an higher end quality restaurant with excellent food and service.
Horrible service but food was great! My boyfriend and I were actually trying out this place because we got a groupon. I heard the food was wonderful but I guess everyone failed to tell us that it takes 30 minutes to order anything and I had to ask 3 times to get a refill on my wine. We actually started to enjoy ourselves once we mentally got over the poor service. Ceviche is fantastic but I don’t know if we will ever go back considering its pricey for awful service.
The worst dining experience of my life. Feb: 2013We decided to try Bistro B tonight for the first time. I had gotten a Groupon for it, which made it worth taking a risk for a new place, especially one with such wide-ranging reviews. We love tapas, and we are fine with long dinners enjoyed over a couple hours. This seemed like a good place to get both. The meal started out well. We got a sampler of cheeses and a ceviche, both of which were quite good. When we ordered them, we informed the waiter then that we would be ordering more after we had more time with the menu. Our food came out, and then … nothing. No one came to check on us, refill our water glasses, or anything until well after the time we had finished the cheese and ceviche. I even held off on eating the cheese for awhile, hoping they would come back so I could request some bread. At one point, the hostess came by and asked if we were done with our menus. When I said no, we were still looking, she said we didn’t need both of them and she just needed one part, then grabbed it and walked off as I was in mid-word, trying to ask her for bread and our waiter. I still can’t believe that — I have never had someone be so rude at a restaurant.Quite some time later, we flagged her down again after unsuccesfully trying to get our waiters’ attention. When I expressed my displeasure with our empty water glasses and the wait, she made excuses that they only had one server — no apology, nothing. Our cheese plate and ceviche was long gone when our server finally came by to take the rest of our order. He grabbed the menus before we ordered, which meant I had to ask for one back as I tried to remember the unfamiliar, foreign names of some of the dishes. After we finished our meal, still being ignored by the four employees we saw running around the restaurant, we sat for some time before anyone came to clear our dishes. When the hostess took the dishes, we asked for the check. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. 20 minutes. (We timed it.) I waved across the room at one point, and she gave me an irritated look (which didn’t shock me as she oozed attitude all night). In those 20 minutes, I watched her ask others if they wanted coffee, get said coffee, and check out a couple who came in long after we did.We finally got an employee to bring the check after my husband turned around in his chair and stared at them and the rest of the restaurant.I understand when a place is busy and doesn’t have a lot of waitstaff, and I will give anyone the benefit of the doubt if they seem to be trying. No one apologized or offered to make it up in any way. I don’t know if we were being ignored because it was just two of us, because we didn’t order alcohol, or because I had the nerve to say something in a non-rude way toward the beginning of the meal. What I do know is that we spend a lot of money on restaurants, that we usually tip at least 20 percent, and that we are usually very forgiving. Tonight was the first time in my life I have ever not left a tip, which, as a friend put it when I told her what happened, is so unlike me that she was shocked. No food is worth that kind of service.
Good food..decent wait staff.. awful management
