I always seem to come in behind Bill W. and I certainly disagree. I doubt I will go back. The service and atmosphere were good, however, the food…not so much. 3 is average..a C, so that’s what I rated. Food was either salty or bland. If the price would match the quality…then I may could have rated higher..but over priced for this grade of seafood.
This is not a Fish Camp!. I guess we are spoiled in the Fish Camp area (Twin Tops, Grahams, etc) Servings were small, small, small!!!! Ate there last night because we were in the area and definately will not do that again. I had the fresh grilled Salmon and have had better at Billys BBQ in Mt. Holly! I guess it is a good thing that the portion was small because I could not have eaten any more. My BF had a combination platter of 3, green shrimp, oysters and paid 1.95 extra for scallops. The seafood was fried well. but there was only about 7 oysters, 8 shrimp and 6 scallops!!!!! Seriously??? We will not return to the Denver location…..
I was wrong….. I have been living here almost 10 years…and refused to eat at Captain’s Cap because of the bad reputation..when I asked friends and neighbors why they always had a full parking lot–people would say it’s social security night–first of the month ya know–now I have to question those who made the remarks–I didn’t eat in –I did order take out–and honestly–there was so much food I couldn’t believe it —and it was really good–the flounder was done to perfection and fresh…and the oysters were overflowing and scallops were tender and fresh…I was shocked…i am happy to say after trying it myself–all the things I heard had to come from people who just went on a bad day—or it was different 10 years ago when I first moved here—now I regret not trying it before–it’s Not Big Daddy’s of Lake Normn but certainly isn’t skimpy on the portions and mine was fresh as the day is long…and I enjoyed the light breading–not so heavy that you couldn’t enjoy the fish and it’s freshness–and yes–I will order from them again—and regret I listened to all those people. It’s right down the road and good —I suppose it’s all in what you order–but if you like fresh flounder –it’s a winner !!!
We’ve eaten wonderful seafood at the beach but we always say it’s better at our neighborhood Captain’s Cap. Contrary to one review, it’s not skimpy! We always take home leftovers. We consistently get good service and our drinks get refilled as needed. If you wonder what people think of this restaurant, just look at the full parking lot every night it’s open. People drive from Charlotte and farther to eat at our neighborhood seafood restaurant. I cannot imagine any seafood item that’s not on their broad menu, and prepared any way you want. It’s my favorite place for seafood. The salad bar is an unexpected treat in a fish camp style restaurant. Don’t let one negative review scare you away. Order green shrimp on a Captain’ Seafood Platter and for a couple extra dollars add some scallops and enjoy a delicious feast.
Always Great Sea Food. I’ve eaten at Captain’s Cap a number of times and have never been disappointed. Fish is always fresh and well prepared. Menu is not very broad but what they do have, they do well and as far as I an concerned, that is more than enough.Wait staff could be better. They hurry up and get your order and serve you but once you’ve been served, they move on to greener pastures. Don’t look for refills on the tea and you may have to track someone down to get your bill.In general, if you like Sea Food, give this place a try.
