Fresh Mexican Cuisine. We’ve been going to Taco and Tequila for years, even began with their sister restaurant in Gastonia. We’ve always had excellent service and delicious food. The one instance where I was unhappy with a dish it was whisked away and taken off of my bill. What more could you ask?My last trip I had a combination dinner with a chicken chimichanga and a beef taco. The chicken they use is shredded chicken breast, seasoned with tomato sauce with peppers and onions. It is fried and topped with cheese sauce and served with lettuce, sour cream and pico de gallo on the side. My taco is always a favorite, the meat is tender and well seasoned. This comes with a side of rice and beans. The salsa here is the best in the city. The fresh cilantro really stands out. The chips are warm and fresh. This is the best Mexican food in Lincolnton, for my money.
Good service, not so good food…. I went with my family last week when visiting them in Lincolnton. I wanted to like Taco & Tequila…i really did. The service was great & the wait staff and owner were very friendly. Food came out quick & hot but the salsa just wasn’t that tasty (I know tomatoes are out of season but this just wasn’t that good) and my chili rellenos were bland. The batter, cheese and pepper had very little taste & the chicken on top did nothing to enhance the dish. The refried beans were pretty good but the rice was also fairly tasteless. The icing on the cake was that they don’t serve horchata. If my family wants to come out again, I won’t be entirely opposed as the menu did have some variety from your standard Mexican-American fare (seemed like there were a few New Mexico inspired dishes) & on Sunday they offer a buffet, which could add some variety but all in all, I wasn’t impressed.
