Best Breakfast in Charlotte. West Lake Family Restaurant has the best breakfast anywhere on the Lake and Charlotte. We go there at least once a week to have breakfast either in the morning or for brunch. I love their western omelette it is better than I can make at home. I love that if you want hash browns you can get it and if you are in the mood to keep it a bit lighter you can order a side of tomatoes. They have the best tomatoes around, even in the winter time. As for the staff you will not meet a better group of servers! The owners have to be good to their staff as many of them have been there a long, long time! If you are going North on Highway 16, you have to stop in for breakfast, brunch or lunch, you don’t want to miss this place!

Great breakfast! Nothing fancy or gourmet, just plain diner breakfast food. The biscuits were fresh and flaky. Service was friendly and welcoming.
Very Good with Reservations. Tried the West Lake Family Restaurant this morning and it general it was excellent with a few exceptions.Most small Family Restaurants with a good breakfast crowd fall down immediately on the flow of guests coming in to be seated and trying to pay their tab and leave. Generally it’s a problem of micromanagement by the owner who insist on control of both and does not delegate responsibilities. Not the case here and a lot of other similiar restaurants in the area could learn from them. Restaurant and packed when we got there and had to wait a minute or two but no undue wait because the individual seating us was not the same person trying to check out someone else.Food was very good with the exception of the gravy on the biscuits. The gravy was a pasty taste which means that the flour was not properly cooked down in the roux prior to the addition of the milk. Common occurance when you get in a hurry.I had the Hobo Platter, my wife had the French Toast and my Sister-In-Law had another omelet with grits. With the excpetion of the pasty gravy, everything was guite good.One point about the restaurant though. They can be a little stingy on the beverages. Coffee refills are free, Sweet Tea refills are free. Hot tea is not and that is all that my Sister-In-Law drinks.Service was excellent. I’ve already commented on the management of the flow of the customers in and out but the wati staff is excellent. They took our beverage orders quickly, took our food orders quickly and we did not have to wait long for our meal which came out at the perfect temperature.Nothing to say one way or another about the decor. It’s a typical family restaurants with just tables and booths and little else. The facility and restroom are maticulate.This is a good find. Good food at a resonable price but he best thing I can say, it’s a very well run establishment. I will definately be back.

Breakfast!. West Lake serves the best breakfast around. Fast and friendly staff. The food can be ordered any way you like and in any combination you wish.
BEST BREAKFAST. This place puts out the largest breakfast platters. Their omelettes are the best I’ve ever had and they sure know how to make a pancake. Its family friendly with excellent service and smoke-free atmosphere. They have a kids menu and they serve breakfast and lunch both all day! I love the new additions to the menu : egg whites, turkey sausage, turkey bacon, fruit… this place keeps improving.
