I went to Cafe 157 last night with 3 other friends. It was wonderful. The food was fabulous, the service was great and price for it all was so reasonable – less than I expected for a dinner like this. We had Appetizer, dinner and dessert – Two of us had Pasta and Two had the fish. All of us loved our food from start to finish. Each dish was more food than any of us could eat. Will definitely be back again. The atmosphere is so pleasant and our waitress was just wonderful. I plan to return here very soon with more of my friends!

Very happy with food on our Valentines Day special! Service was a little odd. Spoke to owner. Great guy. He made it up to us. High cost but well worth the great taste.

Food was very good but all but the staff all seemed miserable. Our waitress was the only person we saw smile the whole dinner. Pork tenderloin is recommended.

I am surprised there are bad reviews for Cafe 157. My husband and I have been twice (once this weekend and once last weekend). We sat on the patio both times. The first time we had the arancini bites for an appitizer, he had the Cajun penned pasta, and I had the lamb which was a special. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted great. This evening we had the calamari as an appitizer (which was like many other restaurants you go to that are not on the coast, but still good), he had a different pasta, I had the mixed greens salad, hanger steak, and chocolate mousse cake (it’s a 3 course special they have going on). My husband liked the pasta, and the steak and sauce were amazing. I’m not huge on salad, but got it since it came with the meal and really enjoyed it. Especially the dressing. The cake was awesome and we witnessed a proposal. It was a great night with great service. I guess may be considered costly if your used to going to the usual chain restaurants that have mediocre food at best with huge portions no person could eat that taste even worse when they are warmed the next day, but we think it is well worth the money. Plus the cost of drinks is very reasonable compared to many other places. We highly recommend Cafe 157 and will certainly be back.

Matthews Hidden Gem. I have dined at least ten times now at Cafe 157, twice at lunch and eight times at dinner. The meals have been creative, utilizing the best ingredients, and the the price to value ratio is very high, because if this restaurant were in downtown Charlotte, the prices would be much higher. For lunch, the Reuben sandwich is simply the best I have had anywhere in the greater Charlotte region. For dinner, there really aren’t any bad choices, but let me recommend the fried pickles as an appetizer; yes, you have had them elsewhere, but none are as fresh and delectable as these. Their lamb chops are from Colorado and are superb.

Went there for the first time this past weekend on a date. The patio seating was perfect and romantic. We had the arancini appetizer and it was delicious. We both had steaks, mine was a bit overcooked, but his was excellent and we ended up sharing…..was plenty of food. We are both in the food industry and hard to please….we’ll definately be back

LOVE. I absolutely love this quaint place! I go all the time, sad but true, my server is usually Kristina and she always knows what want and it makes my lunch break move along nicely. Even if they get slammed at the same time, she ensures my service never slows down. The owner Dora is a very nice lady and I love that they all talk to people like they’re long friends! Food is fresh and always perfect. Best salads! The pasta salad is a little bland, but good soups too! And the new remodeling is looking very sheek
