I eat here very frequently. The service is very friendly and based on the apparent ethnicity of many of the other patrons, it is pretty authentic. I really enjoy the dol sot bi bim bob (or is it bab). Anyway, the hot pot with rice, vegetables and a touch of beef. I enjoy the sides as as well. It can get a bit pricey for lunch, but I really think its worth it.
This is part grocery store and restaurant. The staff was nice and helpful navigating the menu. The place was somewhat full of Koreans, well I assume they were, so knew that it would be good. We ordered the dumplings, duck dumpling soup and Korean bbq pork. It all came with several sides of sprouts, pickled vegetables, kimchi and fish cakes. The spicy bbq pork was our favorite and the soup was okay but overall we enjoyed it all.
Still very good, and very friendly service this time, too!08 Feb, 2014Best Korean in Charlotte
Got the soondae Guk, it was just ok. The soondae was not fresh and unfortunately mushy.
I’d eat here again. Had the seafood soft tofu stew. the flavor was really nice and the tofu was so soft and took on the flavor of the soup. it wasn’t very spicy but had a little heat. one of the better seafood soft tofu stews that i’ve had! the seafood in it isn’t really the star of the show (was a bit chewy).. it is the tofu and broth. i could eat it all the time. the sides were tasty though i was missing some of the traditional fish sides. along with another stew soup we ordered came a really nice crispy fish. The skin was salty and crispy and the fish meat was buttery and flavorful. it is a homey place that is very inexpensive.
Bi bim bap was a bowl of rice, shredded lettuce, and some crap they scraped up from the bottom of the refrigerator. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing, because the place was filled with Koreans which is usually a good sign.
Good Good Good!. As a Korean who’s lived in South Korea for years and New York for 20+ years, it’s been difficult for me and my family to find a decent Korean restaurant around these parts. There was a good one some years back that our family went to regularly. But when they changed location their food quality shot down and their prices went up. But Pepero has been a staple for our family. Located within the Pepero supermarket, they have a good quantity of good quality food for good prices. We’ll continue to go there the next time we want some decent Korean food.
