A cozy restaurant with limited seating. We had the potato pancakes which were quite good. I prefer them with sour cream but they also offer apple sauce. The pirogies are very good. I had the meat which were really good. The rest were also good as well as we tried all of them. I tried the sampler which I enjoyed. The Polish sausage was good and the stuffed cabbage very good. I also tried the meatballs and mushrooms, sauerkraut red cabbage, and chicken and mozzarella all were enjoyable. Charlotte needs more places like this with good ethnic food.

We live 3 minutes from this place and have been meaning to try it. We shouldn’t have waited so long! We will be back. There were 4 of us and we started with salads and potato pancakes (served with sour cream). Very good. Two of us had Karpackie brand beer. Authentic, light, Polish beer. The bottles are large. Yum. My bro-in-law had fried sausage with mashed potatoes — he said it was delicious. My sister had pierogi sampler with meat, potato cheese and Russian. She said the dough was just thin enough to be nice and crispy when fried and well filled! A plate of nine pierogis was plenty–a full dinner, she said. She was in pierogi heaven. My husband got the sampler platter with kielbasa, stuffed cabbage and pierogi. The sauce on the stuff cabbage was different that he was used to–lighter in color and with dill, but he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a plate of spinach pierogis that were fried–very tasty. We finished with blueberry and strawberry crepes. Very nice! The restaurant was clean inside, service was prompt and friendly. Decor is modern and sparse, but we enjoyed the maps of Europe on the wall, helpful as my bro-in-law was explaining to us where his family was from. The restaurant takes credit cards, but not AMEX.
Small but very clean and minimal space. Excellent service, but kitchen can be ( expectedly) a little slow when the the restaurant is full.Recommend the Polish sample platter for first-timers: Polish sausage, choice of fried or boiled pierogis and stuffed cabbage. Enjoyed everything, but especially the sausage.
I’d been wanting to try Taste of Europe for awhile since it’s one of the few Eastern European restaurants in the area and was finally able to today. The building is very small with only 6-7 tables total, so I imagine it can get pretty crowded at peak times, but the restaurant is very nice and was exceptionally clean. The lone server at lunch time today seated me as soon as I walked in and was always quick to take my drink and food order and to check on me.I ordered the Polish sampler platter, which comes with 1 Polish sausage link, stuffed cabbage, and 3 pierogi of your choice. To start with, the Polish sausage was awesome! It was so smoky, flavorful, and seared perfectly. The stuffed cabbage was good but nothing special. It was cooked perfectly, but I personally wasn’t a big fan of the tomato sauce. The pierogi were a little disappointing to me. Maybe it was because I went with boiled over pan fried since my waitress stated this was the more traditional but less popular way in the US to eat them, but they lacked much flavor. There was really no flavor from the farmer’s cheese or onion, and they mostly tasted like plain mashed potatoes. They weren’t awful but could’ve used just a little bit of some spices or flavor to be perfect, and I would expect a little more from a Polish place. All in all, the food was pretty good and the service was excellent, but I was also a little disappointed in the amount of food in the sampler for $12. The three pierogi weren’t that large and neither the sausage nor stuffed cabbage were all that big. It’s been years since I’ve had perogis. I was desperate, even looking for frozen perogis at the supermarket. But I found nothing until I came across Taste of Europe. I was so excited when I found out that they served perogis. That was my main goal stepping into the restaurant. When I checked their lunch menu, to my surprise and delight Wednesday’s special was perogis! They had a nice list of different kinds of perogis (check the attached menu) but I couldn’t decide which one. The waitress kindly pointed out the mixed/combination platter. Bless you miss, seriously. You have the option of fried or boiled. I went with boiled since that’s the traditional way to eat perogis; plus it’s healthier than fried. Along with iced tea (or coffee), paying $7.50 is not bad. The perogis were nicely boiled, the insides nice and smooth, almost creamy. You can eat them just as or with sour cream. I like both ways. I finished the meal full and satisfied beyond belief. I might need to make this a monthly thing.
THE BEST POTATO PANCAKES EVER!. Huge and yummy!!!28 Jan, 2015Excellent Polish food!. We have had almost everything g on the menu. Absolutely LIVE the potato pancakes and you won’t taste a more tender or flavorful bread and boneless pork chop. I happen to love beets and red cabbage and the way they prepare and flavor the beets is the best I’ve had yet. Great assortment of pierogi and the grilled kielbasa is smoky foodness. This time we tried the Nutella and blueberry crepes – wow! They also serve beer and wine. Loved it!!
