It’s a fun place. Walking in, the whole restaurant was meant to look what one would envision of a beach-side drinks hut complete with decorative finishing nets, corrugated tin on the inside of the roof, small bubbling fountains, and loads of exotic looking board-leafed plants. We arrived shortly after opening and were promptly seated. Our server was all smiles and enthusiasm, determined to ensure we enjoyed everything. After guiding us through the tome of menu, she helped us make our selections:The conch fritters were quite tasty, though a little heavy on the batter. The accompanying sauce was nice for those with a sweet tooth, but after a few tastes, I found the sugar content overwhelming. Just as well since the fritters stood up well on their own.The Jamaican wings were delicious. They had just enough seasoning to impart the Jamaican flavor without masking the chicken or being too salty. They season paired very nicely with the accompanying sauce. The chicken empanadas were small but tasty. They are a nice small plate, perfect for a nosh, but nowhere near enough for a meal. The roasted corn/black bean salad they came with was also really good, as the char on the corn gave a nice sweet-smoked accent to go along with the mild heat. The goat curry was a little underwhelming. There was too much rice and potatoes with hardly any goat. The meat was dull and under-seasoned. It seemed like and afterthought more than the center of the dish. Finally, my favorite was the colossal Virgin Bahamarita. This tri-colored stack of blended fruit was delicious. Along with the conch fritters the highly attentive and friendly staff, swill be the reason I come back. After we closed out, my date went to the bathroom and returned disgusted. I had never been before, but she explained that at night, the place takes on a bit more of a club atmosphere. Apparently, the bathroom was a mess. From what she could tell, since were came in roughly 15 minutes after opening on Saturday, the bathroom had not been cleaned since before the previous night’s festivities.

Disappointing – had to wait for a table in an empty restaurant – the excuse was shift change – not clear why they are unable to do a shift change without impacting customers. On duty manager didn’t seem to recognize this as a problem
