Good buffet. We’ve been to the Taj Mahal at least a dozen times. Their buffet is excellent! I like the way they fix you fresh Nan when you come in. They have a good selection of the Indian beers as well!
Waste of a lunch. First of all, $13 for a buffet that is 80% vegetarian is a bad way to start feeling like you get your money’s worth. I do enjoy vegetarian courses, don’t take me the wrong way, but I definitely need something for my carnivorous cravings and the (literally) six meat dishes they had all tasted and looked exactly the same, except for the fish dish which tasted very much like fish. The food was so hopeless, I would discourage both the buffet and ordering off the menu. Worst Indian food I have had in 6 years of eating Indian food.
I love you Taj Mahal. My husband and I have been a few times. Each time has been a pleasure. The food is delicious. The owner and staff have always been incredibly kind. If we are vising late in the evening just prior to closing they will often allow us to take some home with us from the buffet. When the buffet is unavailable, they accommodate my requests for multiple entrees and create a wonderful combo dish for me. I cannot say enough good things about this place. It is sad that the strip mall in which it is located seems rather unsafe, but there are always police patrolling, and parking is near the entrance. We both wish it could relocate closer to RTP. But until then we will continue to travel out to Capital Blvd for this unbeatable variety of amazing Indian fare.
So-So. The food is just so-so (lunch buffet), and one time I had a bit of a belly ache after eating there. The food isn’t anything special, the service was great, and the selection is decent. I probably won’t go back but it’s worth a try- it may lean toward your tastes.
Great food. I’ve never eaten off the buffet, but the menu items are great. Service is attentive. Really good food.
I would highly recommend Taj Mahal and would rate it within my top 3 choices in Raleigh. Very nice curries, meats and breads. My fav is the Lamb Madras. Consistent dishes and very knowledgeable, friendly staff make this one a favorite of mine.
Buffet. Went there for a lunch buffet on a Sunday. I know that this is not necessarily when a restaurant is at its best. Out of the 5 or so dishes I sampled, 2 were pretty good, 1 was average and the others were bad. Luke warm, bland, watery, and stale were completely valid complaints. I’ll try back at another time and will order off the menu before I give my final approval or disapproval, but as it stands right now I really can’t recommend this place.
