The Bear Towne Java, formerly Port City Java, is a quaint little coffeeshop/restuaraunt with a very inviting menu and decor. You can sit down, have a cup of coffee and do work, or eat a meal. Meals range from salads, to wraps, etc… I have been there easily a hundred times. It’s a great place to go grab a bite.

Good coffee and free wifi.
Now Bear Town Java and still my favorite place for a Latte in New Bern. Cookies are always good too. Don’t bother with the other place unless you prefer weak coffee and slow service. Best coffee in town is at Bear Town!
Starbucks who?. My husband and I had a cup of coffee here and loved it as we drove to the coast. We went to the other coffee shop downtown but they don’t take credit cards…weird. This place does (gotta get airline miles, LOL) We found this place is in a great location and Coffee was great. Staff was helpful as well, they suggested we visit Tryon Palace and also other areas downtown. My white mocha was perfect and my husband loved his organic blend coffee.
Drinks are average and they close too early, not impressed.
Great Coffee, even compared o Seattle!. This place has some of the best coffee I have sampled, and as of writing this review I live in the coffee capital of the USA!!This location in New Bern has such a cozy atmosphere. The staff has always been friendly, the restaurant clean, and smoothies & wraps are great. This is a place I MUST visit when I’m in town!
