Yuck. The shrimp and crab cakes tasted like they were deep fried in rancid burnt grease. Also the 2 bites I tried to eat of the crab cake tasted like ALL filler.

Donna’s review. We had supper here tonight. The portions are large. I had scallops broiled. It was cooked to perfection. The salad bar was very fresh and had everything you could want for a salad. My husband got a combination of flounder and scallops. He too was very pleased with his choice. The decor is not fancy but to me the food is most important. Five stars from us on food and service.

Loved it!! Ask for Jamie! She’s awesome! The food was quick and fresh! We arrived to a packed place & thought we would have to wait but to our surprise the food was fast and delicious. I got the crab cakes, fresh flounder and crispy oysters cooked just right. My date got the seafood platter complete with shrimp, grouper, oysters, scallops, crab cakes, and fresh made gumbo. The crabcakes were Huge (ask for the Maryland crab cakes) the portion sizes were enormous and the salad bar is to die for!! Lots of choices for even the pickiest eater! The dessert of the day was fresh blue berry cobbler and the coffee was hot and fresh!! A dive from the outside but an exquisite culinary delight on the inside!! Definitely a hidden gem! You won’t be disappointed!! 😀

Friday’s 1890 Seafood & BBQ. This restaurant has never disappointed me, the food is great, you don’t have to wait long, and you get a good meal. The meal portions seem somewhat small, but fills you up more than you want.

Lovely Food. We ate there last night: fresh salad, fried shrimp, crab legs, baked beans, cajun salmon, clam chowder, sweet potato, broiled – shrimp, flounder, and scallops. It was all lovely! The barn stall decor isn’t my favorite, but the food and the service were great!

Friday at Fridays. This place has been here forever and it looks it…the lights above the tables are way to bright and frankly HOT…you feel like you are sitting in an easy bake oven. The food while sometimes good, sometimes it is not. The coleslaw I got last night was obviously full of horseradish…I was brought carrots, that had been sprinkled with sugar and warmed up right out of a can, they tasted like the can…the catfish was fried and usually very good but they did not leave it to cook long enough and was kinda undercooked. The Aquarium at the front by the cash register is filthy…gross…and the only fish I felt more sorry for were the ones that were fried. I mentioned the fact that is in desperate need of cleaning and I was told by the staff the owner did not want to pay anyone to clean it…I really hope that is not true, I really wanted to go look at the kitchen to see how clean it was, but I did not… I wish I had…

Not as good as I remember. This is an old, dirty place that has seen much better days. i remember going there multiple times in my younger days and on a recent excursion to the the beach, a visit to 1890 was not what I remember. Funny how memory is distorted over time. Maybe it was better then or maybe i just wasn’t as picky. Anyhow, I long for the return of a solid seafood platter in what once a cozy setting. The food is mediocre at best and the surroundings are very very tired. Did someone say rustic? There is rustic good and rustic bad. This is rustic bad. The entire place needs a revamp if it is to stay in business much longer. Let’s get it together management, and make this place good once again.
