Best Jerk Chicken. The food here is authentic and so good, especially the jerk chicken.
Astounding. I’ve been here several times and I can tell you that if you like down home Jamaican food, you need to come see this place. Whatever they have on the menu is sure to be good ( or the owner will flip out) She is very sweet and kind but if something’s not done right, I can assure you she won’t put up with it. I love this place, go check it out and see if you do too.
I love love love JCZ! Take it from someone who has Jamaican blood, this restaurant hits authenticity right on the nose. This is a must stop every trip my family makes on their visits to ILM. Don’t like something on the menu? Speak up to one of the fabulous owners! They are all about great service and making sure they are meeting the needs of their customers. Best part id that youd be Supporting a local small business 🙂
Well the food lived up to the hype, but the decor let me down. I understand that it is located in a run down shopping center, and the decor represented it. However, the quality and authenticity is deserving a much more successful and upscale restaurant. Miss Valerie has great charisma and her waiter was nice. I was there for a business dinner, and I will go back there for myself, but I was embarrassed with the outdated decor and would not bring anyone there. I had the goat curry and oxtail whivh were both fantastic. To me the most important thing is food so I give it a thumbs up, but the decor really needs to catch up and hurts this restaurant.
Awesome!!!. JCZ was on our hit list and we finally made it there last night. It was fantastic! The jerk chicken and rib combo was delicious and the roti was splendid. What added to the experience was the owner Valerie who was engaging and informative. If you have not experienced Jamaican fare then you really must visit. I plan on trying the vegetarian roti my next visit. BTW, if you are not familiar w/ roti, google it…it’s excellent!
Love it! Best Jerk and Brown Stew chicken since we visited Negril 3 years ago! We are from Charlotte and unfortunately we don’t have any thing even close to JCZ. These guys are doing it right!!
Unassuming location, awesome find…. This place is right near where I live, so I try and go fairly often. I love love love the family that runs it, Valerie (the matriarch) is so nice and friendly and cares about her customers. I wish it were busier for them, but unfortunately feel Wilmington is not very receptive to alternative cuisines in general. Regardless, they have survived for several years now because of their loyal regulars. They have an awesome 4 course menu available daily for only $12.95, including an app, entree with 2 sides and dessert—you can’t beat it! All entrees can come in half or whole orders too, which comes in handy when you want to order a variety to share for your table. Some very interesting authentic Jamaican cuisine, I recommend the curry goat and oxtails. For those familiar with it, they do have callalou and saltfish and ackee, and their jerk is the most authentic in town, not too sweet. My only complaint is that with the staff being so small, when the place is busy service takes a huge drop in quality, but that doesn’t happen too often.
