DON’T BE FOOLED! DRY CAKE, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE!. Sugarland was recommended by Sullivan’s Steakhouse, where I was having my fianc’s 50th surprise birthday party. I was very disappointed by not only the decor of the cake but the cake itself was DRY and TASTELESS. I am unsure who’s fault it was, Sugarland’s or Sullivan’s, but somehow when the lid of the cake was removed, it partially removed the top layer of the cake’s decoration and lettering. I was mortified! I would think that if you take pride in your work and consider yourself a professional bakery, you would ensure something like this would never happen. I contacted them immediately and they did send someone out to return the cake to the bakery to fix it before the party. The cake was simply decorated and showed minimal creativity to which my best friend commented that her 10 year could have done better! The ultimate disappointment was when the cake was served…I ordered the almond pound but it was VERY DRY and far from almond flavored. I was and still am deeply embarrassed that I presented this type of cake for such a special occasion to my fianc and our guests. And for the money I spent, I would have expected much more. But to top it off!!!! I contacted Melissa Majchrak, catering manager, to explain to her what happened because she was out of town the weekend of the event, but she has failed to call or even email me back. I would have expected some sort of apology or appreciation for my feedback but her lack of response clearly shows this is not a professional bakery and should be avoided, especially for a special event.
Do not use Sugarland bakery in Raleigh/Chapel Hill NC – WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!!. Very poor communication with customers.Staff at the Chapel Hill location are super rude and she talked on the phone the entire time I stood in the store. I never once was acknowledged while I was there and ended up leaving with nothing. I tried to have a specialty cake made and their decorator Melissa never got back to us and would not pick up the phone to talk to us, only via email which obviously isn’t favorable for customers that need to finalize arrangements in a matter of days. I’m a strong believer in quality customer service and for some reason, a lot of bussinesses have lost sight of this very important aspect of doing business especially in this industry. So….Sugarland gets a huge thumbs down from me and I do not intend to recommend them to anyone else. I hope they get this message and realize that change is needed. They do appear to have a great cake decorating talent based on the pictures on their website, but unfortunately that was as far as I was able to get. Good luck to you Sugarland as you’ll need it if you ever intend to generate new business.
So disappointed!!!. I ordered a big cake at Sugarland at Cameron Village for a very special event! On my first consultation everything was very good. I tried the cupcakes. They said the cake will exactly as the cupcakes. What a surprise! The cake wasn’t even near the cupcakes I tried. The cake was very dense, also they charged me for a number and a letter on top and they didn’t do it. The size we talked about didn’t match also. I ordered with clear and shiny crystals and they looked like marbles. Please be careful especially for weddings and big events you can have a very bad surprise.
Yum!. I love Sugarland! Their gelato is crazy delicious and you HAVE to try one of their frozen martinis! The cupcakes are really good too. Try the pumpkin chocolate chip!!
Worst cupcakes ever!! Tried 6 different cupcakes an every single one of them were dry and crumbly and stale! Either they freeze the cupcake part or they cook them about 2 weeks ahead. The frosting is all butter but heavy on the butter and light on the flavor and sugar- I honestly would rate these the worst I’ve ever had and at 4$ a pop, criminal they charge for these things. It would be a great practical joke on a friend because they look great but taste like sawdust! I’d avoid this place and save your money!
Sweet Treat!. We tried Sugarland at the suggestion of a friend and weren’t disappointed! The cupcakes were great, but the show stopper was the gelato. We had the chocolate negro gelato, and it was amazing! Definitely worth a visit!
