The restaurant in the market is really good. They have a boxed lunch that at $6.50 is deal. It comes with rice and 3 dishes. If you go for lunch they will also include soup. They also have a traditional Chinese menu. Recommend
Huge Portions, Colossal Flavor, Minimal Cost. At the Joy Luck Club, for $6.50 you can get a lunchbox, which includes a huge serving of rice (white or fried), a soup, & 3 heaping servings from their hot-bar. My husband and I shared a lunchbox and we left stuffed!
Awful steamed buns. Tried a Chicken n Mushroom steamed bun. It looked huge when the server placed it in the plastic container and I said Yum, yum. Then I got into it as my husband drove out of the parking lot. it was all dough with very little filling, and the dough was sorta dry. My hubby got the BBQ pork bun, and while his bun was huge like min was, he had the same problem – dry, semi-sweet dough and almost dry filling, whatever little there was of it. The bakery items all seem to have jumped in price (inflation?). The sponge cakes used to be .90c each a couple years ago but they’re $1.50 ea. today. I must be behind the times.
Chinese Bakery and Fast Food Cafe. This Bakery and Cafe is on the front left side of an Asian Supermarket. It is the only Taiwanese style Bakery in the Charlotte area as far as I know and the only place where you can get Roast duck in South Charlotte area. I loved the variety of baked buns that are available here. Also my favorite at the Bakery is Bubble Ice Coffee (Ice Coffee with Tapioca). The food at the Cafe is a mixed bag for me. Roast duck with rice was good. Some other dishes that I have gotten were salty and tasted very bland so I would stick to ordering simple dishes as it is a fast food cafe.Overall, I like having this addition on the South side of town.
GREAT ROASTED DUCK!. We broiled the duck in pieces then prepared it with floured pancakes scallion and brown sauce, It was great!!
