Wanted to Like This Place but Can’t. I’ve driven by this place probably a hundred times and have always told myself I needed to stop. Out by inself but with a parking lot that is always full.Finally stopped in today for lunch. The lunch crowd is definately blue color and everyone seems to know everyone else. This is the kind of place I like.Decor is a little on the dark side but so what. Based on the plaques on the wall, the owner is definately proud of his community and is a member of several fraternal organizations.Wait staff is very freindly and very helpful although a bit slow on the beverage service and in case I forget it, the prcie is right.Why do I not like this place? Unfortunately because of the food. I ordered a Country Fried Steak plate and the meat had enough residual oil that if it could be recovered would have made the US energy sufficient for the next twenty years. The Fries on the other hand were some of the best I have found in Statesville. The cole slaw was not bad either but again, the main entree was horrible.It’s the kind of place I would normally like but let’s face it. The main reason to go out from lunch is to get something to eat and if it’s not good, it’s not worth the effort.
