Never going back. Walked to Marty’s because it was convenient and usually is empty so I figured I’d be in and out to be able to make it elsewhere. Walk in, it’s empty, I order FRIED PICKLES to go. An appetizer! I sit and wait for 30 MINUTES in a completely empty restaurant and become late running errands. I usually go in there to eat but I am never going back there ever again. I felt uncomfortable and mad.
I visited this past Sunday for dinner and football on my business trip, extremely glad I found Marty’s. The owner Marty was serving at the bar and he made me feel very welcome. The other patrons were very kind and made me feel at home. If you are a sports fan stop by, Marty can talk you about football, hockey, NCAA Basketball, NBA Basketball, etc. Can’t go wrong with this place.I travel to the area every three months, most definitely will be returning. Thank you again Marty.
Disappointing. I met two acquaintances for dinner last night. I thought a chicken wrap sounded good, as I’ve always enjoyed them. Not at Marty’s! The plate contained a large, cold wrap containing grilled chicken with no sauce that I could taste. Very bland and unappetizing. The only way it was made palatable was by adding my Italian salad dressing to the chicken! The side salad was simply iceberg lettuce with a few croutons on top. It was not a good dinner at all.
Don’t Bother. Walked in today and granted I did not have a reservation but who needs one for a dive. First thing that hit me was the residual ddor of cigarette smoke and NC has baned cigarettes from public establishements for 20 months now. Must have been my kind of place in my hey day.Anyway, walked in, no hostess so seated myself at the bar. Sat there for 5 minutes, never sayw a bartender or waitress or anyone else except those nurshing their beers which had been served before by a phantom wait staff. Finall I got up and left. and never once saw a member of the waitstaff.If you wamt tp be ignored, this is your place. If you want to at least be able to place an order, could be, could not be. I don’t know. Never got a chance to place an order. Glad to see a place doing so well, they don’t need any new customers
Where everybody knows my name. Marty’s had a shaky start, as a transition from a fancy-ish restaurant to a sports bar moved on through…but the kept some decent beer on tap (Currently Abita turbo dog and our local Red Oak along with the standard Miller type fare) and the bar food is QUITE good (I’m from Buffalo, if I tell you the wings are good you can trust me). The honey-habanero fingers? NOM, also the fries have this peppery shake on them I like a lot.The staff is very friendly, Marty is a great guy. The regular crowd is becoming more and more diverse, and I’m glad to see it growing.

Maybe it’s because they are new? My burger was ok but my fries were way under cooked! This was the hamburger special for lunch. The service was also a little slow. I might be willing to give them another try if they can stay open long enough.
