Downtown Italian. We visited for lunch today and were surprised that at 1:30pm this restaurant was completely empty. The interior is dark and rustic and was actually very pleasant, if not a little warm. Our waitress sat us quickly and attended to us wonderfully the entire visit. My friend got the Spinach salad with grilled chicken. The dressing was creamy and delicious and she loved the fresh salad.I got the fettucine alfredo with chicken. It was very creamy and simple, perfect! The chicken was tender and bite sized. This restaurant was a surprise gem, I never even realized it was downtown. We will be back.

OK. But not great. Wine is way overpriced. Had a penne, sausage, tomato sauce that was ok. Partner had chicken piccata that was ok. Service was very good.

Hidden Gem!. I’ve been to Mezzaluna II at least 4-5 times to meet people for dinner (I use it as a good half-way spot between Winston-Salem and Charlotte). It is easily accessible off the highway and the area is pretty quiet (i.e. easy to find a parking space right on the street). The ambiance is warm and casual but the food and service is very upscale. The prices are unbelievably reasonable… most entrees are $10.95 – $13.95, salads are $2.95. You think you’ve stepped back into the 90s on the prices. It is delicious and such an unexpected gem to find in such a humble place!

Unexpectedly delicious. We drove around town for 10 minutes before spotting Mezzaluna ii – practically the only restaurant open in town. So we didn’t have great expectations. But we should have! Absolutely delicious food. We could tell the sauces were made with fresh ingredients- light and full of the flavor of basil and tomatoes. Sausage tasted home-made, chicken was tender with delightfully subtle flavors. Wait staff was personable and Chef Alec came out to great us. We will definately come back next time we are in the area. Honestly we had some low expectations because the area is generally sparsely populated, but the experience at Mezzaluna was incredible from appetizer to dessert. Chef Alex offers to customize and dish to your liking, but we found them perfect as is. We’ll definitely be back and give this place positive word of mouth wherever we go.

Somewhat Rustic but Worth It. Mezzaluna is located in an old building in downtown Statesville that has been tastefully restored. It was a feel of an old Brooklyn Italian Restaurant and the owners have gone a long way to recreating that dining experience. The food is simple but well prepared and the ingredients speak for themselves. A mixture of Northern and Southern Italien cooking styles but probably a little more toward the Northern. As mentioned, the atmosphere compliments the food which is great. Service can be a little slow if you’re in a hurry but otherwise good. Value is excellent.Unless you know downtown Statesville, it can be a little hard to find but worth the effort.

Mezzaluna II is great value.. Even in current economy, Mezzaluna II still prepares great food and is reasonably priced. Lunches are almost a steal. Tasty food is prepared fresh and delivered in record time.
