Old School. Very Comfortable. You can tell when you walk in, this is the way restaurants used to operate 30 to 40 years ago. Not mass produced, no assembly line just a home kitchen taken into a restaurant environment but still with the touch of home.Walked in at the end of the lunch hour rush and it was almost empty. You order at the front from everything you see of the steam table and go from there. I’m normally very leary to order off of a steam table because you don’t know how long it has been there and has it passed on to the rhelm of ineatable and unappetizing. Not the case here.I ordered Southen Fried Chicken and was very surprised. It was delicious and very crispy on the outside yet moist on the inside. The baked beans I had for one of my sides was excellent but the mac and cheese which was my second side was pathetic. The biscuit I had choose as my break was one of the best I have had in a long. It was the size of a saucer, an inch thick yet full of flavor and texture at the same time.The staff is excellent and while there is no wait staff per say, the counter and kitchen staff are very efficeint and very friendly.Restaurant is dated and could loose a bit of upgrading but I suspect that if you did so, there would be a revolt amoung the regulars. You can tell this is basically a neighborhood restaurant with a very established and regular group of regulars.Not fancy but I will be back and in the very near future. Can’t wait to try breakfast. I have a feeling that that is the high point even though lunch was great.
