I hardly ever give negative reviews to a business, especially a small business that is locally owned. However, this was one of the most disappointing restaurant visits Ive had. I waited over an hour to be seated (and yes, I confirmed the time by photos that I took, it really was that long). I was by myself, one person. The host was very nice and he felt really bad about it, but when I finally did get seated, my server brought me water and didnt return for 20 minutes. Thats the point at which I walked out, and went to a restaurant around the corner, where I was seated promptly and treated with great kindness.I have no idea how good their food is, because I never got to try any.

Thursday Lunch Disappointment. After reading rave reviews on social media, a co-worker and I decided to try out the Twisted Oak. The location and atmosphere cannot be beat. The interior was beautiful and well thought out. It would be a wonderful event space….EXCEPT for the poor service and mediocre menu with inflated pricing. You are paying for the decor and location…not great food Our waitress lacked warmth. She never smiled, made eye contact or asked us about our meal once she had served us. She was quick to refill drinks, as she should be with only three tables to wait on…the place was DEAD. My co-worker ordered the Turkey Melt, which was covered with a SPICY house made pimento cheese. Somehow, the spicy description is not on the menu. The sandwich was totally inedible. I ordered the Hot Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich, which was dry and overwhelmed with fried jalapenos. Maybe the chef was a former Tex-Mex guy? What’s with the prominent feature of jalapeno? On a plus, the fries were great. If you look over the menu, the pricing would be what you would expect for local / organic ingredients featured in a slow food movement way. If there is a better place in town that offers friendly service, supports local food, and good atmosphere, I would skip this place and go there. This place does not live up to the hype.
Spouse and I ate here for Valentines dinner, and were not impressed. We ordered our steaks medium and if what we got was medium, I can’t imagine what they consider rare. The steak and vegetables were cold! The salad was nice, very fresh. The staff was friendly. There was live music in the other dining room which clashed unpleasantly with the sound system where we were seated. I don’t think we will go there again.
Had a great time tonight! Wasn’t very busy except they had a private function going on in their banquet room. Had the Shrimp & Grits which were AMAZING! Finished with their chocolate dessert…to die for. Will DEFINITELY be back
Went back with some friends tonight for appetizers and some beers. Great beer selection and the Fried Green Tomatoes were both beautiful and DELICIOUS!!23 Mar, 2014We have been to Twisted Oak before but we’re severely disappointed by the lack luster menu. We decided to give them another try because we heard they had a new chef. My wife and I went last night with several friends and arrived to a very busy restaurant. Turns out the theater was performing a play in their banquet room! We were still sat promptly and greeted quickly. Our waitress was young, friendly, and attentive. She answered all of our questions and made several recommendations including the Shrimp & Grits, Beef Stroganoff, and Crab Cakes. We tried all of them! LolOur food came out quickly and was amazing!! We were surprised to see glazed baby carrots as the vegetable which was a unique and delicious touch. The chef actually stopped by the table and so did one of the owners at some point. Thank you to Jason and Chef Shawn for an amazing evening!!
I have been to the restaurant on many occasions and I have to say that I will not be back until I see they have hired a new cook and serve you in a timely manner. Not impressed at all. Mcdonalds would have a better meal. When our food arrived way too late for a work night and a slow night, it was ruined. A manager should always come and apologize and ask how they can compensate you for such an awful meal. All in all, bad experience especially when we chose it to celebrate a huge milestone!
