A large group of us went to RS&S. We were asked if we had reservations. I had seen no indication of reservations needed on their website and the parking lot was fairly empty. When we told them no they seated us all upstairs in a bar type area. I asked the waiter weather he would recommend the crab cakes or shrimp. He said the crab cakes were really good but the shrimp was really good with a light batter and you could really taste the shrimp. I ordered the crab cake appetizer and the fried shrimp meal. Don’t get me wrong, the shrimp were really good. Fresh with a light batter but the crab cake was fantastic. I wish I had gotten the crab cake meal instead of the shrimp. My wife had the Cajun Seared Mahi and she said it was very good. Someone else in our group said the Lobster Ravioli was very good. We will eat there again.
Top Restaurant is Swansboro. This restaurant is both classy and casual. The food is excellent and the service is as well. Have spoken with the owner several times and he values your business and checks in with the tables throughout the evening to ensure you’re satisfied. This is by far the best place to eat/dine in the Swansboro/Emerald Isle area! A must visit!

Best Restaurant in Swansboro. Love this place. I was lucky enough to have a real estate agent who told me about this place. I take all of my guests here when they come into town to see me. I love the scallop nachos. They are my favorite and everyone that visits me loves them too~
Awesome. On a recent visit we had the owner and his Mom chatting us up as they served some of the best seafood ever. Scallops at least the size of Paris Hilton’s dog were the perfect ending to a crab cake appetizer with a surf and turf main course. Okay, I stole the scallops from Tim but he was moaning about having to go to class the next day and he did look awful full. The perfect end to a great day. I’ll be returning with the family soon.
Best dinner at the beach. Had two specials – not listed on the website, but there were a lot of additional specials on the blackboard. had blackened mahi with oysters and andouille sausage, as well as a shrimp with linguini and curry sauce. Both were great, came with a decent salad and sweet potato muffin. Don’t like sweet potatoes, but these were really good. owner stopped by a few times to check on us, as did a waitress we had at another Swansboro restaurant who worked the diner shift at Riverside. no problems walking in on a weeknight out of season. In season might require a reservation, or a very long wait.
We are from Michigan and were staying at Emerald Isle and had to make arrangements for my Mom’s 90th birthday party for 40 people! We were striking out until we spoke with John from Riverside Steak and Seafood. He was very accommodating and even suggested Lowe’s Foods for us to order her cake, get ice cream and order balloons. The service was great and the food was delicious! A very positive experience and a must for our future visits!!
