Highly recommended. I recently moved here with my family. I had been to this place before. It did not disappoint. Great food and views. Get the shrimp and grits!! So good!
Ok food, rude management. Food was ok, nothing special. witness the female manager treat employees terrible, she had my server crying. Obviously this woman is very unprofessional. Wont be going back for that reason.
Not good… The first time I tried the Saltwater Grill, although the food was underwhelming, I enjoyed the location enough to give it another try. The second try came with watered down sangria ($9 for a small glass), very under seasoned potato salad, and obviously old seafood salad served on a soggy croissant. It was very upsetting. I hardly touched the food, and left after paying way too much for what I received. The location is lovely, and the staff is friendly, but the bad food and high prices will keep me from giving it another try.
Good service. Alligator was great.
Second Review. After my first so-so experience, we went a few more times. Each time the service was good but the food was hit and miss. The 2d time we came we asked if the fish they had on special was fresh or frozen. We were told it was fresh. Well, it wasn’t. you can tell. We did get that portion of our bill comped. The 3rd time we went a similar thing happend. Again, a portion of the bill was comped.I WANT to like this place! The owner, Mike, is very nice and listens to your comments. The staff seems to be trying very hard, but three times I have been and three times there have been issues. I REALLY , really want to say to try them, but I can’t without also warning what might happen.I think the problem is that Mike wants this to work but he is stuck with people working for and with him that don’t have the same passion for food excellence as he does.
Tourist don’t fall for the trap. Cold food, slow service and overpriced.
Not Impressed. Was looking to try a different restaurant with my wife, sister and brother-in-law who were visiting from out of town. Although they heave been open about a year, and we live right on Emerald Isle, we had not been to Saltwater Grill to eat. We read reviews prior to going and they were generally favorable so we went. First….the good news. The She Crab soup was very enjoyable. The less than good news: The Calamari appetizer was a plate full of tentacles…..only (1) ring of squid on the entire plate. The Tuna appetizer was advertised as coming with kimchi on the plate….there was no kimchi. My wife ordered Shrimp and Grits that were advertised as having Smoked Gouda. Although the shrimp was fresh and good tasting, there was very little indication of Gouda in the grits and they were so, so. My brother–in-law ordered the Crab Cakes…..they were cold and tasted like a restaurant walk in box smells. It was evident that they had made a bin of crab meat cake mix and had left it uncovered in the fridge where it took on the taste of other things in the fridge. A couple at the table next to ours sent their meal back; he should have as well. We ordered a 2d round of wine. The second pouring was a different Chardonnay then the first and came very chilled when the first round was far less chilled. I have worked in restaurants for 7 years and am a decent cook myself. My brother-in-law is a restauranteur for 30+ years. We will not return to the Saltwater Grill.
