We have been to the Gatehouse numerous times and will continue to go back. We are close to being senior citizens and don’t care for noise so we try to go there during slow times. The food has always been very good. We have tried other local restaurants but none have been as good.
BEST BURGERS IN WAKE FOREST. Great calamari, been three times in past month food was great. If service us a problem you haven’t been in wake forest too long. It’s bad everywhere. Just enjoy your meal…
Just okay…. We frequent sports bars to watch football games and are used to the quality of pub food and expected the same from Gatehouse Tavern, but for the prices being a little higher, the food was actually a little lower quality than expected. They claim to ground fresh beef in-house, so I expected a good quality meat, but my burger was actually very fatty and extremely greasy. My husband’s fried shrimp was extremely fishy tasting and our appetizer was a bit too well-done, almost too crunchy/rock-hard to eat. We did enjoy our sides though (onion rings and sweet potato fries).Most of their meals are around $10, which is about the same as Ruby Tuesday, we’ve had much better food experiences there. The staff and server seemed nice enough and it was a nice room, but with the TVs blasting and everyone yelling to hear each other, we could hardly hear each other and we were practically sitting on top of one another. Some of their TVs were blurry/low quality. I almost wished we would have just gotten take out and watched our big screen at home! I wouldn’t rule them out completely though, I may come back someday and try a salad.
