A Wake Forest Classic. My family moved to Wake Forest back in 1998, and we started eating at Las Margaritas then every now and then. It seems to be a family run place – today in 2013 I still recognize the waiters. The menu is pretty typical Mexican fare, but the food itself really is fantastic. It must have to do with fresh quality ingredients or something – but the same items at Las Margaritas are just simply better. You get chips and salsa, but the homemade chips and salsa just taste richer than other places. The cheese dip you might order at another Mexican place, but it’s always hot, uses a tinge of fresh hot peppers, tastes creamier, and is served in bigger portions. It’s just really good stuff. The atmosphere is bustling and festive – lots of people moving in and out in not a lot of space. The waiters rush past carrying six hot plates at a time on one arm, but I’ve never seen an accident. It’s not a classy place for a real quiet date, but it is a lot of fun.
Yes. I ate their Dos Amigos, Enchiladas Mexicanas, Enchiladas Poblanos (I think) and a big banana margarita. The mole completely smothered the poblanos and it tasted too dark. That however was the only downside to my meal. The margarita was pretty good and I will be getting another. The salsa was great because it was thicker than the average restaurant’s. It also had a nice spice to it.The location has two major flaws. They have an unlocked door in a back dining area that has people coming and going. Very annoying and I made them move us immediately. The entrance and waiting area was annoying as well.
Best Cheese Dip!. Las Margaritas is your typical Mexican restaurant, but somehow is still my favorite in the area. Best cheese dip around. The chicken soft tacos are also a favorite. Don’t forget the margarita!
