Great place. Had the pork belly curry soup (amazing) and the crispy rice spring rolls. The mixture of the rice was a little dry. The peanut sauce gave it some moisture but I would have liked to have a bit more moisture in the rice mixture itself. Moscow mule was a little weak! Maybe I’ve just been drinking too much though. Will definitely be back to try more.
This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time! The food is refreshingly different, and masterfully prepared. There are two menu items that you have to try. (1) The Crispy Rice Lettuce Wraps is an appetizer that hits all marks on the foodie experience! You scoop rice onto lettuce leaves and top with a slightly sweet sauce. The texture of the rice provides the perfect crunch. The rice is flavored with herbs and a peanut sauce (or chopped peanuts?). Drizzle a little of the semi-sweet sauce on top and relish the moment! Then for main course, you must order their signature dish: Crispy Pork Belly Soup. Soup for a main course may sound weird but it is a big dish with lots of protein and noodles. The soup based in a Kaffir lime leaf coconut curry broth is rich, creamy (yet translucent) and complex in flavor. Their crispy pork belly is phenomenal, with combination of crispy and tender pork portions. Add some peanuts, veges and rice noodles and you are sitting in a moment only described as heaven. Again, they hit the texture perfectly with the crispy pork inside the soup broth, contrasted by the soft rice noodles. I come to Raleigh about once a year and Bida Manda has become a traditional stop for every visit!
Bida Manda is one of my go to favorite dinner spots when we go into Raleigh for dinner. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The food is fantastic, I haven’t had a dish I didn’t like. This place is definitely worth driving downtown for!
Amazing!!!. The atmosphere, service, and food was all wonderful! I had the pork belly soup (delicious but heavy) and my husband had the papaya salad with sea bass… it was even better! We tried two weeks in a row to make reservations so book early and do have one! One of our favorites in Raleigh now!
Was in Raleigh on business and three of us had dinner. With no reservations we sat at the bar. There was a great local beer selection and the service friendly. We each had different entrees and all were fantastic. I had the Pho with pork belly. Tasted the papaya salad with steak, everything was unique and wonderful. Can’t wait to go back.
Went with a large party. Half did not like their food. Bland, skimpy on meat and servings and way overpriced. Wouldn’t go back. And I was really looking forward to eating there.
Hands down the best food in Raleigh. I’ve eaten there several times for lunch and dinner so far and it is always amazing. Everything on the menu is fresh, light and has the most amazing flavor. All while keeping a unique Laos meets NC atmosphere.
