Great little spot serving golden pockets of deliciousness. Service was really good and friendly. We tried each of 10 empanadas; cocky though its name may be, the champ is easily the best. The chicken tinga was a little underwhelming. The rest were all delicious. Also, half-price Tequila on Tuesdays is fun but can make for rough Wednesday morning at work.
Exceptional. What a delightful experience! Not only is the food amazing, but the atmospheres festive & the staff superb. I have to give a shout out to Anthony for his wonderful humor in attending to us rowdy women and making a kickass jalapeo margarita!!! Stephanie also rocks!
Cala Vela. Tasty empanadas and nachos. Really liked the pork here. They got our orders mixed up, which makes things difficult when everything is hidden under crust, but we didn’t mind sharing. Also weird was the fact that they were getting a produce delivery in the middle of the place during our meal.
Amazing restaurant! Super cool decor and ambience. Feels sexy, rich, and sultry. Food was delicious. Flight of tequila was tons of fun, and the in house Bloody Mary mix served on the side is incredible! Two thumbs up for the jalapeo cilantro margarita also. Service lacked a bit but food and drinks totally made up for it. Will absolutely be back!
With SOOO many restaurants in Raleigh, only an exemplary few are worth visiting time and time again- Calavera being one of them!! Everything about this place is perfect. Everything. No holds barred. Try it all!!
Great food and drinks!. I have tried all the empanadas at Calavera.. all are superb.. and i love the salsa’s that go with it… Drinks are excellent as well. I had the jalepeno/cilantro margarita.. The avocado lime salad was amazing… very tasty! I always recommend this place because the atmosphere is very homey and down to earth!
Great spot for a late night snack. Good service. And the desert empanadas? Heaven!
