Other places in the area have meatballs on the menu, but meatballs are simply just what Oak City Meatball Shoppe does and extremely well at that. The four basic meatballs (okay, one is vegetarian) and sauces are always available, the ball and sauce of the day are great to try as well. Don’t forget the sides. The polenta is simple, but remains one of the most rich and decadent I’ve had. The sauteed spinach is fantastic as well. Each orders consists of 4 3-ounce cooked (according to the server), so it is a solid amount of food. Pair one with a side and you have a great, simple meal.

I always say that if your restaurant specializes in one thing, you better do that one thing right, and Oak City Meatball Shoppe definitely impressed me.I ordered four spicy pork meatballs in meat sauce along with a side of mac & cheese. The meat sauce was good but nothing too incredible, and the pork meatballs were delicious, although a little too spicy for my girlfriend on their own. I didn’t mind the spice, but I would highly recommend one of the sides under your balls or getting one of the sandwich options because 4 balls in sauce need something to something to take some of the flavor and soak up the sauce and one small piece of focaccia isn’t quite enough. The mac and cheese was very good though. It was cheesy with nice al dente noodles and a good quantity of breadcrumbs on top. It was also a really big portion, and I probably wouldn’t have finished that and 4 large meatballs if I wasn’t starving when we arrived. My girlfriend ordered the spicy pork balls on a bun with Parmesan cream as her sauce and got the risotto of the day. Even though she got spicy pork meatballs as well, when covered with mozzarella and Parmesan cream they tasted a lot less spicy and were simply amazing. The Parmesan cream was definitely better than the meat sauce, and I enjoyed the meat sauce quite a bit. The brioche bun was buttery and extremely soft and honestly one of the best buns I’ve had anywhere. A+ sandwich. The risotto of the day had chorizo, tomatoes, and a ton of cheese. It was flavorful and pretty tasty, especially if you like cheese. I think it would’ve been great as one of the sides for under your meatballs.

Ate there last night. Experience was good, service was excellent, food was pretty good. Then woke up that night around 2:30am and proceeded to puke my guts out until about 7am. Think what you must but I’m positive I got food poisoning from them. I hate to think about how that could of happened.

Had a really tasty pork meatball hoagie with a parmesean cream sauce, bacon, a fried egg, and mozzarella. It was messy because they split the bread on their sandwiches, but it was totally worth the mess. Best sandwich I’ve had in months. Very impressed.

Absolutely amazing! Came in late, so they were not busy, but still had a great time and loved the food!

Excellent meatballs and fabulous sides! Loved the spicy pork meatballs (they were spicy) with tomato sauce, sliders (chicken with parm, chicken with pesto, and beef with blue cheese), buffalo chicken meatballs with blue cheese (the daily special), arugula salad, and mac and cheese. We will definitely return!

Most delicious meatballs and mac n cheese ever!! You can pick the type of protein and sauce, or have a meatball sandwich. One of the best bourbon bars in town
