Best Carolina-style BBQ I’ve ever had! Every item I tried from the menu was simply outstanding, and the wait staff was knowledgeable & friendly. I can’t wait to come back, and I’m bringing a bottle of their vinegar sauce home with me!

This was our first time at the Pit and it will be our last. We stopped by for Sunday lunch today, it was not crowded and we got seated quickly. Waitress came over fairly quickly and introduced herself. Placed our order for sweet tea and pimento cheese balls and at the same time ordered our entrees. Chopped turkey and combo plate (turkey and brisket). Drinks came very quickly and a few minutes later the appetizer. That’s pretty much where everything ends and we waited and waited. 5 minutes, 10, 20, 30 minutes gone by and nothing. Waitress kept looking at us and walked right by our table several times. We kept trying to flag someone, anyone that could tell us what was going on with our order. Finally, went to the hostess stand and told them to cancel our order we’ve had waited close to 45 minutes. The hostess had no clue what was going on or what to do. We couldn’t even get someone to bring us a bill to pay for the sweet tea and app. Finally, some gentleman came over, never said who he was. Just said that the kitchen lost the ticket and our order was coming out soon. Also mentioned it would be covered, but at this point we just said no thank you. We had waited long enough and was ready to go. Never did try the BBQ, but if it’s like the service then I’m glad that we didn’t try it. Not to many places I wouldn’t give another chance, but this is one of them. The waitress and staff just didn’t care.

Known as (one of the) best barbecue joint in the Triangle, I had to try the Pit! Unlike many barbecue joints, the Pit offered multiple vegetarian options, making barbecue available for everyone. I finally settled on the BBQ soy nuggets in the sweet and savory glaze, which was fantastic! I really enjoyed the sauce, and there were plenty of nuggets to eat that were grilled in the sauce, soaking in the flavor. For sides, I ordered mac and cheese with green beans. I couldn’t stop eating the mac and cheese-it was just baked with just the right amount of cheese. The green beans were cooked in fresh garlic, making them a nice item to compliment the rest of the meal. I could barely touch the starters that were given-biscuits and hush puppies. The biscuits were moist and not too greasy. The hush puppies were tiny, which allowed the crust to not get too hard when fried. The server was very attentive and was checking on me throughout the meal. For the price and quality of food, this is an absolutely must-try if you’re in the Triangle!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Great service, great food, and great atmosphere. Try the Brunswick stew! My favorite BBQ place in Raleigh, even if it is upscale!

Excellent BBQ, and fried chicken a wide selection of beer, wine and great cocktails, desert menu is delicious and everything comes with excellent service with plenty of servers available.

This was our first trip to Raleigh and we stumbled in here by chance. The food was amazing and everyone throughly enjoyed it. It was very decently priced and the BBQ was stellar. We also had some local Raleigh brews that the waiter recommended. We would definitely recommend the pit and stop in there again.

I was not impressed. We ordered the grandma’s serving. Which is $24.99 per person (I think it was to pricy for what we got) The BBQ fries were bland ( definitely not seasoned) the pulled pork was dried and not season. I ordered barbecue chicken and I got fried chicken. They left dirty dishes the whole time while we ate which we did not have enough room on the table. It was a clean place and has a nice ambience. But I was expecting more from what it was advertised
